The dip was caused by a millionaire who set up sell walls of 700~800 ETH to push the price down to $250 before a buy wall of 7k ETH was set up. Afterwards, it recovered when the whale scooped up his profits over the span of 5 minutes (when it jumped to $275 the first time).
I'm no marine biologist but it doesn't take one to listen to the whale songs. Pay attention to the order books and you'll see these patterns all the time. That's how you make a profit as a small fish.
