The middle ages begin with the fall of Rome

Depends on the school of thought. Most scholars of Yale persues the idea that the middle ages started around the fall of Rome or the decline of the Roman Empire in the Italian Pen. Which varies from 350-500ad. It is also widely accepted that there is no offical date or single event that started the Middle ages, rather a series of events which began a new era. The same goes for the end of the middle ages and is actually recognized around the black plauge and decline of the Byzantine Empire; from 1350-1400. The significance of the fall of Constantinople indeed begins a new era but the Empire had been in serious threat for over 100 years. When Constantinople fell the Empire had very little resemblance of an Empire at all, the capital falling to the Ottomans really just ended what was once the Byzantine Empire and enabled the final political holdings to be dismantled.

Uhhh fuckin, yeah. The idea that the middle ages ended with the fall of Rome is not far off but rather is overshadowed by advancements in Europe proper, politically, economically, and so on.
