How could the most advanced superpower on earth lose to a bunch of rice farmers who still lived like in the 17th century?

Shouldn't Vietnam dominate the world instead of America?

For all intents and purposes the USA won the Vietnam War, which throws a wrench in your whole argument.

The political goals and the military conditions approved to achieve it didn't jive. American policymakers assumed that if they propped up the south, repelled all attempts by the North Vietnamese to invade and wrought hell on the North with their superior firepower acceptable concessions would follow.

As it turned out the South's government was rotten and wouldn't survive without indefinite & substantial US support which was becoming untenable as US involvement became more unpopular as the war dragged on and the North's will to fight was much stronger than anticipated.

At least that's how I understand it.

Because first, US didn't really lose in battlefields, they lost in politics and morale, American people were just unwilling to support their government to fight anymore. Military wise, America didn't lose at all, on the contrary, they won almost every ground battles and inflicted heavy casualties on Vietcong.

Second, Vietcong had very strong determination and received almost endless support from USSR and Chicom, including weapons, ammunition, tanks, air crafts, rations, military instructors..etc, their entire guerrilla tactic is derived from PLA who already has abundant experiences to deal with American back in Korea. Therefore, it's impossible to make them back down! Even if they were really defeated, they could simply retreat to China and fight back again.

...

Occupiers can always just go home.

The US created the Viet Minh basically btw. If you read into the background of OSS involvement in WW2 and the fallout after it's remarkably similar to the result of US support of the mujahadeen and modern islamism

grade A bait and the retarded americans will bite
>usa won! commie gooks died millions! muh kill death ratio!
>usa won! it was just the hippies forcing government to pull back

Dolchstoß.the Soldiers didnt lose in the field, but the american people disliked the war.The NVA and vietcaong were slaughtered but had an iron will to fight, that what won in the end.

They weren't in the 17th century, they were being supplied by the Soviet Union, the US couldn't bomb them back into the stone age without diplomatic repercussions. North Vietnam indiscriminated targeted civilians, killing 100000s of South Vietnamese civilians compared to the 60000 North Vietnamese civilians who died. The Vietcong had a free hand to use intimidation while in the US it was illegal. The Soviet Union started a massive propaganda campaign in the US to sway public opinion in favor of North Vietnamese imperialist aggression against Laos and South Vietnam.

The guerrilla tactic is taught by the Japs who refused to surrender in 1945, the Viet Minh kept some of them behind to train their troops
If Vietnam had tactics like Chinese Dien Bien Phu would be a meat grinder for North Vietnam
South Vietnam was the 51st state of USA, it was an area for France to regroup and go home, VNeses were supposed to vote to choose their leader but some lads just want to "Carpe Diem" and seize the fucking country.

>For all intents and purposes the USA won the Vietnam War

What intents and purposes are those?

Hard mode: Don't create a false equivalence between America ultimately winning the Cold War and America winning the Vietnam War.

Insanity mode: Don't cite k/d ratios like some CODkiddy.

>For all intents and purposes the USA won the Vietnam War, which throws a wrench in your whole argument.
But that's the exact opposite of true. Literally the only way in which the Us won was >muh killcount

Vietcong's tactics in Battle of Dien Bien Phu was exactly taught by Chinese advisers, the most famous one is Wei Guoqing, even Frenches noticed it. And Chicom didn't just send advisers, they also send loads of machine guns and cannons to Vietcong which caused a lot of trouble to Frenches in Dien Bien Phu.

Viet Minh and later Vietcong was receiving Chinese support and training since WW2, their tactics including tunnels and guerrilla warfare were directly learnt from Chicom. Chicom basically used same tactic to attack Japs in norther China.

As I said, Dien Bien Phu was a meat grinder as intended by the French and its American allies, to follow the Chinese tactic was to suicide, Viet Minh were trained by Japs as seen in this picture is a suicide anti-tank bomb, main weapons of Japaneses during WW2, used to defend Ha Noi during the retreat of Viet Minh in 1946,
China didn't become communist till 1950
so the training Viet Minh received in the 1945 is from Japs defector
Also when Chiến dịch biên giới 1950 (or Battle of Route Coloniale 4) result in Viet Minh's victory they could get better equipments from bot Soviet and China.

Pic related is Japs forces in WW2

Retarded americans is oxymoron.

You're an oxymoron, with emphasis on moron

Dirty hippies

>complete destruction of south Vietnamese government
>total unification of Vietnam under North Vietnamese communist rule
>Saigon changed to Ho Chi Minh City
>United States politically and militarily driven from Vietnam

"b-but but in CoD Black Ops, my kill-count-"
You're stupid, and purposefully spreading disinformation.

^ Alternative facts

The United states was not driven from Vietnam, they withdrew after there was a cease fire expecting peace to appease the home front.
Then once the US pulled out the north invaded.
The north refused to fight the United states and waited for them to be gone to 'win' I would not call that winning against the United states, I would call that being afraid of them.
