Fucking hell what a waste.

In a similar vein, Western Xia

>Founded by some weird ass descendants of Tibetans called Tanguts in the Hexi Corridor and Xinjiang
>Fought a bunch of wars with the Jurchens and the Northern Song dynasty
>Fought with cannons mounted on the backs of camels
>State religion was Tantric Buddhism, and thus there were many abnormal sexual religious practices

>Eventually got destroyed so hard by Genghis Khan that it's often cited as one of the first and most successful examples of genocide

The entire history of this region during antiquity and Middle Ages is honestly so fascinating and underrated it hurts. There's so many different states like this that have been almost entirely lost to history, buried beneath the desert sands.

Forgot map

>Before they could get married to men of their own ethnicity when they reached 30 years old, Uighur women in Shanxi in the 12th century had children after having relations with multiple Han Chinese men, with her desirability as a wife enhancing if she had been with a large number of men."

Fuck, that gave me a boner.

>>founded by the remnants of a Mongolic dynasty in Northern China
The Liao Dynasty didn't really rule in Northern China. They simply set up camp *north* of what was then China proper and copied the civilization, with the royal house calling itself the Liao Dynasty.

They did attempt to Invade Northern China but were held off. While they were doing so however they were tremendously blown the fuck out by Aguda, who led the Jurchens into Liao territory and eventually took Northern China to boot,

California was an independent republic after seceding from Mexico for a month in 1846 until it was annexed by the US.

What could have been.....

Republic of Sonora is another fun one. Pretty much the closest mainland American example of /pol/'s white paradise (aside from the Confederacy ofc)

Walker got around.

This shit always amazes me, too bad we have no real sources on them.

Was no one able to find texts that they wrote?

We got the only Russia capable of surviving in that environment.

It doesn't help that the modern countries of that region have no interest in researching greek roots and are wartorn shitholes in general.

sup?

Jeez Americans really are autistic.

Also
>Chinese colonies governed via democracy...before Chinese ever heard of democracy.

The term "republic" is a term applied to the Kongsi federations by Dutch historians. The Kongsi republic however is governed via Kongsis- which translates to "Clan Halls." This was because the Kongsi republics were built by Merchants setting up shop in Southeast Asia. Since Merchant groups tend to all come from a single family or clan in China, they organized their colonies similar to how they organized their clan villages back in China: patriarchs of the family led by the chief elders gathered in clan halls and discussed village matters.

Though in the Kongsi republics, that was jacked up to 11 with a whole state pretty much run as a clan village. It therefore looked like a "republic" because every male family head had a say in decision making.

In Indonesian history, they held off the Dutch for quite a long time during the long Kongsi wars, until the 19th century at least when the Dutch firepower was better than theirs and the Qing Dynasty declined.

Pic related, one of the best known Kongsi republics.

I really like that one time when some Polish Nobleman get really butthurt at Russia so he conquered bunch of land in China and proclaimed a city-state with cossacks.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaxa_(state)

thank christ

Holy fuck, now this truly surprised me

There was both Albania and Iberia in Caucasus.

Retards thinks some shitty city-state will be able to control vast amount territories and people in it

now i'm surprised that the Polish actually had a territory in Asian Far East for a while

it's pronounced novgorod? i've been pronouncing it "novogrod" this whole time because i've never bothered to look past the first three letters

Novgorod (New city)

Novgorod in Russian.
Novo+grod variant in other Slavic languages.

ahhh yes very good my mistake can be overlooked now

It was like Texas in that they never intended to stay independent, and immediately offered to join the USA upon independence.

Manichaeism existed in China till at least 17th century and among Uighurs till 11th.

hmm

Do we have any of Manchi's books? Like did any of the Chinese preserve their writings?

Syriac Christianity spread to India and China long before other Christians reached those lands.

Some examples of place names in other Slavic languages with the same meaning (New town/city)
Novograd in Ukrainian
Novigrad in Serbo-Croatian
Novo mesto in Slovene

Explain this.

Byzantin Empire is moder day name in medival times it was called Roman Empire or Basileia Romaion. This state was true heir of Roman Empire because it was second part of Roman Empire

Nowy Gród in old-polish
also in old-polish y was readed as i or j sometimes and ó was long o
so it used to sound like Nowi grood

The less roman half of the roman empire.

It's Mani, you dolt

Until a certain period it was the most civilized state on the planet.

English colony in Crimea
>Japan without emperor
SHAMEFUR DISPRAY

Pskov>Vilnius>Novgorod>Kiev>Moscow

And I forgot map.

After being rekt by william the bastard a bunch of english lords and their retainers and their families headed to Constantinople. Did the Emperor of Rome a solid by fighting some heathens and then were granted Crimea as a thankyou.

The Munster Republic
Basically after the signing the Anglo-Irish treaty. The country broke out into civil war and the very anti-treaty Ira declared an independent republic in Munster.

Tldr Munster went REEEEEEEEEEEE

Couto Misto was a microstate in the Iberian peninsula that existed as an independent polity for nearly a thousand years.

I have spent some time in Afghanistan since the 2001 invasion. I befriended one of the locals, and asked him about the greek past of Afghanistan, and basically they're not too interested in that, it was a long time ago and more importantly they were not muslim. So they just dont give a fuck, what happens when the locals find an old burial or other site from antiquity, they loot it for gold and other valuable gems, and figures made of metal are inspected, if they are made of precious
metals, 99% of the time they get melted down, if its lets say copper they just throw it away or maybe sell it for a few afghanis to a dealer who will put it up for auction on ebay.
some of the statues he showed me had been busted up pretty bad, I imagine because it depicted buddhist or greece imagry.
imagine the art and culture and maybe even knowledge lost because some shepherd found a site realized what it was and looted it, priceless artifacts gone forever. it made me so mad, thats why I dont feel bad about artifacts being held for safe keeping in private collections.

hahaha my Norman forefathers did this.

Now tell us about the Battle of Dyrrhacium...

Pskov>Vilnius>Novgorod>Kiev>Moscow>dirt>dogshit>Warsaw

And then people wonder why Europeans hoarded so many artifacts from over the world in their museums.

>All over the world
Precisely.

Not everyone did the same thing.

t. moskvoblyad

Idk man, it isnt just the ME where retarded dictators dont give a shit abiut historical artifacts, or even destroys them because they want to create a new age.

AFAIK Southeast Asians aren't running about destroying their own shit.

Meanwhile the Soviets and the Chinks just destroyed minor objects and sites and for like a span of a few years. But when faced by iconic locations or previously hallowed sites they freeze up, especially due to peasant superstition (which was heavily the case in China).

Dictators are the ones who care about history. Saddam invested heavy money into archeological research and even had the zikkurat of Ur restored, then after (((democracy))) arrived it all went to shit.

>Everyone must see history the same way the west does.
Lol.

Western Museum and Preservation culture is basically descended from (perceived) sense of loss of classical knowledge created by the """""Dark Ages""""".

Others really didn't share that considering not everyone was fucking under Rome.

In Mexico, they tend to completely level old temple sites to make area for buildings.

The Cocos Islands (now a territory of Australia) was first colonised by an english merchant who with 40 women tried to create his own private harem island.

Was eventually overthrown by the women after they got some assistance from some passing sailors

...

Why are the Dutch so jingoistic?
