Does anyone actually unironically believe the British elite gave a damn about the average Polish person in 1939? Any more than they gave a damn about the average Serbian in 1914?
Did Britain actually care about Polish people or were they just afraid of Germany getting too OP?

>what is realpolitik

Quite obviously the latter.
What a shit thread.

Both.

The same reason they intervened for Belgium in WW1, A too powerful Germany was bad for Britain, and if they didn't honour their alliances it made it that much harder to have treaties with those countries.

Britain didn't give a fuck about the Serbs in 1914s, it was the Belgians, because that was the country getting fucked they didn't have a loose handshake deal with.

>A too powerful Germany was bad for Britain

Why? It was always Germany vs France for the continent, and Britain the naval empire.

A big Germany was never at any point a threat to England.

Because they started ramping up naval production. The Naval arms race between Germany and Britain was a big factor in the buildup before WW1

I don't give a shit about Polish people today, let alone in 1939. Whiny, histrionic race.

Chamberlain was a cuck who sit back and let Hitler devour half of Europe. He had to draw a line at Poland or risk his legacy.

>Mr Chamberlin in serious mood

>I have never read a history book in my life.
First off, Britain didn't want ANYONE unifying Europe. Secondly, Germany had the second strongest fleet in the world in 1914, and was actively looking for new colonies. They were definitely a threat to England.

They were much more worried about Germany becoming to powerful

>and was actively looking for new colonies

Fucking where?
The only place left was China, and that was being quite gentlemanly divided up in small chunks.

England's colonies you illiterate mong.

>going to war with a major power over a port in africa

Yeah, good fucking luck. These colonies were mostly not even worth taking for free, let along fighting for.
Look at how the empire falling apart was analyzed, Britain basically gained money from leaving those cash drains govern themselves.

The Brits already let the Germs take Austria and Czechoslovakia (against their government and people's will), despite having treaties. Hitler threatened to take the latter by force; Churchill obliged to avoid war and hope that would appease him. Poland was the last straw after multiple warnings and transgressions.

Nobody cares about poles

>he doesn't know about Wilhelm autistic fits about MUH TIME IN THE SUN

A lot of expansion in southern Africa by the British was to cockblock Germany. The British considered them to be growing too big for their boots.

Want to stop the Germs getting too OP

Yeah, Willy would never do anything like that. The Moroccan Crisis was just some mass hallucination!

Reminder that the Western Capitalist Democracies only intervened once they realized Hitler was going to keep undermining their interests.

Reminder that Stalin collaborated with Fascists.

Reminder that Trotsky would have smashed Nazism in its cradle

>what its morrocan crisis what is second morrocan crisis

>I don't give a shit about Polish people today, let alone in 1939

Just how fucking old are you?

It's the source of a major controversy in Poland. Some historians believe that Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs - Józef Beck, should've known that France and Great Britain won't honor the alliance and a non-aggression pact with Germany was the only option.

According to one theory the British government purposely agreed to in April 1939 (after it rejected Poland many times) so that Hitler's first blow would fall on Poland not on France. But I think another possible theory is that right after Hitler took over Czechoslovakia, the British wanted another country as their ally to intimidate Hitler. It was a bluff that didn't work. The way the British (and Americans) handled their allies was perfidious but maybe not that perfidious.

Also Beck should've known that Stalin was the biggest danger but Soviet agents in his ministry convinced him he wouldn't do anything. But he had his own plans to spread the revolution further. Hitler wanted his eastern border secured so that he could attack France so when he lost Poland he had to choose USSR.

>Polish people
(((Polish people))) are all Jews. Of course the Anglo will fight to the death protecting his Jew masters.
