Wasn't that Roosevelt.

William Howard Taft was also a progressive

Taft was Roosevelt's VP. Then Roosevelt went of to Africa to shoot lions for a few years. When Ted returned to the US, he was horrified to see that Taft had discontinued many of the progressive policies that he had supported. Roosevelt then through a massive fit, and ran as a third party candidate, splitting the Republican vote. The Democrats won the 1912 election and put Woodrow Wilson in office.

>tfw no more Rockefeller Republicans

William Howard Taft's appearance resembles a caricature of a greedy capitalist who would partake in a monopoly, while John D. Rockefeller and Henry Ford were skinny.

Taft actually used the Sherman anti-trust act more than Roosevelt did, but because Teddy was/is more popular, he gets remembered for it.

*eats your pie*

That's because neither Rockefeller or Ford were greedy

Ford stayed skinny by burning off the calories from his burning hated of Jews

>Rockefeller not the greediest cunt in US history
Go hang yourself, you asshole.

if he was greedy he wouldn't have set up all those universities, and museums with his own money now would he

>he wouldn't have set up all those universities, and museums with his own money now would he

I so passionately despise people like you.
You are proles, brainless tools, pigs that squeak with joy when their masters throw some trash food at them.

That peace of shit destroyed entire industries to get his way, to grow his business & monopolize the market.
He only started throwing some coins around when he was old, and focused on fixing his reputation, so the future generations will see him as he wanted to be percieved.
He hired professionals to do that, and it worked, as we see on your example.
I bet you also believe that he got rich because of things like telling barrel making workers to use less nails, like in those biographies written by professional writers he hired.

who cares, those industries would have died anyways, and I get to enjoy the MOMA on their corpses so its no biggy.

Did he make it Veeky Forums?

>tfw no centrism anymore since civil rights movement and Nam

*loved by Filipinos*
*dedicates lots of parks and avenues to you*

>Looks at all the shit he built after he rekt everything

>when you look like a inflated Roosevelt balloon

>waaahhhh capitulism

kill yourself socialist

Evidently people at the time thought so as well

He was a good friend.

>Rockefeller not the greediest cunt in US history
>Devout Baptist who donated 6% of his income since his very first pay check at the age of 16 and soon began donating even more than 10% of his income.

Was Taft actually beloved by the locals? Or is that American revisionist history?

>ancaps and lolbertarians get mad when are shown that monopolies and oligopolies are what happens when there are no market regulations against anti-competitive practices

The bigger they are the harder they fall.

now you can't get out of the room

>wanting a Great Depression: Worldwide Edition

*Breaks up your bathtub*

Maybe the government shouldn't be propping up and enmeshing broken systems.

Sort of like what happened with Hillary and Bernie.

THAT WAS FAKE NEWS

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Tax write offs and favors are not helping him in the end? The standard of altruism sure has slipped

> monopolies and oligopolies are what happens when the government gov't involved in industry and have said industries essentially form regulations that prevents smaller competition from actually competing in exchange for political monetary gifts
*FTFY

no, not at all.

I feel sorry for that donkey

Regulatory capture sure doesn't help but you still need laws to prevent companies from using their market position to crush rivals. Also for consumer protection.

>donkey
user that's not a donkey

Bernie did not run at all after being beat in a rigged primary. He instead sold out and bought a third home complaining about how he should have won to his herd.

>if he was greedy he wouldn't have set up all those universities, and museums with his own money now would he

>if nazis were bad they wouldn't have made all those scientific discoveries in concentration clubs now would they

You're not looking hard enough, it's right there riding the ox.

I keep hearing about how he sold out but what's the source for him abusing his campaign funds after he dropped out of the race?

More like :
*Blocks your road*
amirite ?

he gained it all back though, so no

>Tax write offs and favors are not helping him in the end?
Firstly, you have no source. Secondly, Rockefeller was well known with dispensing charitable donations in cash and coinage to almost everyone he met, which is nearly impossible to be properly itemized on a tax sheet. Thirdly, the vast majority of his donations were towards local Baptist church's and organizations, Civil Rights and Women's Right's groups, and later in life his own foundations. Fourthly, I don't understand how writing off charitable donations is somehow selfish. If I donated all my income, but failed to write any of it off, I would be thrown in jail because I couldn't pay my taxes. If anything with what rates were at the time, the man paid more in charitable donations, that what he had to in taxes.

What's the deal with Robert Taft's face? Why does he look so weird?

The resemblance is uncanny.

How did he get so obese?

Being a politician, he ate well

>Republicans were the ones to bust the trusts
Really makes you think.

It's a known fact that the two parties more or less swapped ideological positions at some point in time. During the Theodore Roosevelt era, Republicans were considered the "progressive" party, supporting things like minimum wage, unemployment benefits, food safety regulations, etc. Whereas the Democrats were considered to be the corporate party that favored lower taxes and fewer regulations on businesses. Nowadays, it is pretty much the exact reverse, with Republicans favoring lower taxes and fewer regulations on business and the Democrats favoring a more regulated economy with a safety net of social programs underneath.

>tfw no big guy prez

>The humans are catching on

That was a good one, mate.

hahaha

One of the few good Republican presidential candidates in the last 70 or so years.

Taft defended a civilian government in the Philippines vs. MacArthur (the dad, not the son), honored the Catholic faith of the locals despite Protestants gearing to proselytize in the Philippines once Spain left, and treated the locals with respect and discouraged racism among American authorities to the point that the average Flip was well looked upon than America's own blacks. He really bought shitloads into the "uplifting mission," without being a smug dick considering a European entity already done work in the place.

So yes, that's why shitloads of streets, avenues, parks, and schools are named after Taft in the Philippines.

wow he used up a whole .00001% of his net worth, what a great guy

You're a big guy

>dat smile
>dat 'stache
>dat "fat guy who is a great friend" vibe

Is Taft our most /comfy/ president?
