What went wrong in China and India? Why Europe industrialized first? Was it because of Christianity?

Colonialism and exploitation.

Yes it was because of Christianity my fellow brother in Christ. This is why the economic superpowers of the world, Armenia and Ethiopia were the first to Christianize and hence the first to industrialize. Gods favor be with them forever!

>unfunny, evident , thereby pointless redditor "sarcasm"

Literally Europe exploited them causing their downfall to European success.

Christianity was already btfo at the time of industrialization. More likely the scientific and individualistic boost from the age of enlightenment was the kick that Europe needed.

>the whole last 1000 years of Indian history is nothing but a steady descent to shit

If they were so good then why weren't they the ones to exploit Europe rather than other way around?

>Already in possesion of two continent's worth of resources
>But uh-uh it was their alleigeance to contemporary status quo values I conform with that was conducive to their success

China in like 200 BC could, but was too far away

Exploitation requires ignoble attitudes.

Europe lost their knightly honor and embraced the peasant revolution of the protestant reform. This allowed people to take advantage of others without feeling remorse.

If you step back and look at the entirety of Chinese history, literally nothing went wrong. China fell for what, two centuries? There have been dark ages in China longer than that. They just dither until a strong faction manages to stabilize things, this latest dithering is nothing new, and in a few centuries it will be as forgotten as the 17th century is in popular imagination.

>China
>honorable and noble
Are you memeing right now

>all Europeans are protestant
Top kek.

A mistake on your part. Just because Europeans of the time were ignoble, doesn't mean Chinese are noble. Just because chinese didn't exploit doesn't mean they aren't ignoble.

Chinese did exploit everyone they could, thing is they could only exploit iron age tier savages. They just logicaly weren't able to exploit their betters.

>europe exploited them to become successful
>europe wasn't successful beforehand
>unsuccessful europe overpowered successful china and india (somehow)

competition between European powers made it so they had to continuously strive to become more and more powerful. unlike China, which had mostly been threatened by its own self

>comparing a whole continent (europe) to single countries

retarded graph

> Europe
> being """"continent"""""
this meme needs to die

Russia is a continent.

>everything i don't like is reddit
this is getting old

> reddit:the reply

europe didnt industrialized first. the british did. european countries by virtue of close approximation was second in line.

Hm what could it be...

What the actual fuck is that meme x axis?

The changing world economy and increased outsourcing due to a change from traditional cargo liner shipping to modern techniques?

% of world GDP I assume

You do know which one the x axis is, right?

Because of Americas. Europe was a little shit peninsula.Spain and Italy are peninsulas within a peninsula.
Now getting back to the spread of information. The two keepers of books: christian and muslims. Their center points were Italy and Saudi Arabia. Their jobs were technically legal...notaries. Notaries were and in some regions the most important lawyers. Saudi Arabia lies in the middle of india and spain. Two farthest muslim extant. Italy halfway between levant/caucuses and spain.

The Quraish tribe, The Curators/Priests.
The Christian priests Curas/Curators. The musulmanii were said to be a tribe from libya near the tripoli region. They moved headquarters as did the levantines.

However the only hebrews one can track historically, the iberi are from spain. Now going back. The west focused on trade routes and merchandising. The east...

What happened to the iberian people? they ate the italian and saudi trade. Now today you have a bunch of germans, english, greeks and italians living there. Because it was a center of commerce they leftand started a piece of shit land called America.

>China's most intense period of economic ruin directly coincides with the opium wars

Europe discovered and colonized America and as such had the resources of three continents under their control. The need to transport and defend resources between America and Europe also led to Europe becoming a naval powerhouse, allowing them to exert their power and influence far more than ever before see in history.

This is why Europe was able to establish dominance over historically more powerful regions like China and India. Not only did they get their golden age, but they had the ability to travel the entire world as well. If China, India, the Middle East, etc had that at their peaks, they would've been the ones to dominate the entire world.

>they had the ability to travel the entire world

hmm, I wonder if that had anything do do with it. Maybe it was one of the main reasons they had a golden age, instead of just being correlated with it.

>If

/althis/ pls

>Post 1500s.
>Christianity
More like the abandonment of Christianity lyl

The Opium Epidemic really fucked China up.

It's no wonder they had to resort to communism totalitarianism to get back into shape.

Europe has no future anymore, China does.

>ib4 European Empire

Yeah led by Muhammad from Syria.

> led by Muhammad from Syria.
Nothing bad about it.
USA was led by Kenyan and turned out okay.

You mean the guy that was afraid to say "radical islam" even once?

This

No. Western civilization outpaced Eastern because the West rejected their religion and used usury to kick start capitalism. Luther is rolling over in his grave about capitalism. Really, no one can really be a good Christian and still think giving out loans at interest is a good thing.

>haha look China was weak!

Nowadays Europe is the most exploited continent.

How does it feel to be forced to take in 6 000 000 refugees from ((war torn)) countries or having to pay a fine of 6 billion to the Jewropean Union for not taking in any?

>USA was led by Kenyan and turned out okay.
>okay
Which alternative universe are you living? All the fucked up shits around world right now are responsible by your former Kenyan president.

China and Europe are around the same size.

Good to see you're reduced to irrelevant ad homs after your retarded antilogic was exposed

Because the west got there first because the Mongols and Muslims cut off their supply to the east over land.
What does that even mean? You can see by OPs graph how China and Europe literally cross in directions immediately at the point that Europe starts major trade and influence in Indian and then China. Fucking look at it, it's like the instant year Europe arrives they go up while India and China go down.

Even if your dumb inference constituted a meaningful argument (it wouldn't), the graph doesn't show anything of the sort. Western Europe begins on the same decline as India and China at 1AD, then begins a steady and consistent climb upwards from 1000AD on that has no relation to China or India whatsoever. You could just as well argue that Western Europe's wealth was tied to the expansion of the US by your standards.
This is not to mention that historical graphs for "GDP" beyond the 18th Century are more or less bullshit anyway.
