To be fair, the place where Goebbels gave that speech was deliberately packed full with die-hard Nazi supporters. The "Yes!" weren't necessarily representative of the way the average German felt. The borders weren't along the ethnic lines, if lets say, Hungary got borders like in WW2, it would had been just, (and still harsh as it still would had lost like 50% of its territory).

to be fair it wasn't a 'proper' open battle

the king was in talks with the rebels to buy time while half of his forces tried to sneak across a river in order to encircle the rebels once the battle starts

except the rebels realised the deception, caught the forces crossing the river in the act and slaughtered them before they could form up properly

then the king realised half his army was gone and withdrew
