It's not terribly expensive. It's more of a question of being properly integrated in the system. Family plans tend to get fucking expensive, but solo coverage isn't bad. The most important thing is to know when and how your insurance pays, and, more importantly, when it does not pay, and you are responsible. All the insurance in the world does no good if you go to a hospital that does not accept it.

Yuros are the divas here because you don't know how large the gap is between uninsured and insured. There is no base coverage. A minor accident with a few stitches could cost thousands and a minor oversight on insurance coverage details could leave you on the hook for the whole thing.

I also work in Munich OP. Make around 75k europesos as a dev. With that, I invest around 2k per month, without giving a shit about budgeting.
Just do some job hopping every couple of years until you get to the salary ceiling for your profession.

At the very minimum you should have catastrophic coverage which is very cheap and protects you from extended hospital stays, which no one ever plans for.
