He is? Provide proofs

the map just originated in Deutschland which explains the many German furries.

>Catholic, Latin nations = not perverse

Shit. I didnt even know he had a deviantart. At least his art seems tame.
What is the history of the furry fandom? Who were its counders? And what does it say about society? Lets make this thread Veeky Forums related.

you shouldn't post furry outside of b and that board unless it's for only meme purposes

I think this furry shit too root in germany so quick because of all the antifascists promoting free love and cultural revolution and all that garbage.

Mien gott

This kinda explains his girlfriend actually

>What is the history of the furry fandom?

around the 60s and 70s people who were really into cartoons and very schlocky sci-fi/fantasy started recognizing anthropomorphic animals as a genre on it's own rather than a simple story element, these same people started orbiting creators and creating content themselves, making several attempts to expand into other topics, some more successful than others. Only the internet brought the necessary explosion in interest, variety and absolute insanity that we know today.

Who were its counders?

in novels, fucked if know there were thousands, in comics, Fritz the Cat, Omaha the cat dancer, Albedo, in animation, the works of Osamu Tezuka with movies like Bagi: Monster of Mighty nature and A thousand and one nights, all of these were the sprout of genres that were already there(scathing satire, high fantasy and sci-fi, comedy and adventure) that circled around, or mainly featured anthro animals as a topic or as main characters. The further reflection and development of this was gradual, though you could argue using animals as social allegories like Zootopia just did dates back to old fables or things like Animal Farm.

And what does it say about society?

i don't know, people have been drawing and thinking of anthro animals for literal tens of thousands of years, people just find them visually striking.

>And what does it say about society?
They are all fags

pic related is the oldest anthropomorphic figure, and among the oldest anythings ever.

honestly i've gone through many theories on why anthroporphism is such a prevalent thing in cultures throughout the world, but most of them are extremely pretentious bullshit. The reality is that the human psyche evolved while surrounded by nature and animals, and they are always going to have a subconscious symbolic value due to this. Anthropomorphism is the most visceral expression, it is absolutely NOT more complicated than this.

Now, you look at any autist creating his fursona he'll spell it to you loud and clear: "i'm strong and dominant like a wolf on the inside", how do you even know wolves are strong and dominant if you've never seen one? culture. Among furries themselves, they've generated their own codes to interpret animal shapes and what they project on them, most unspoken, but generally they see anthropomorphism as a default state, like the deep-end weeaboos that physically recoils at 3DPD. From then on it's all social inertia.

>tfw Italy is still safe
Thank god.

Whats going on in germany?U

And well, that's important to point out, the symbolism is the default state, the inward trait is quite literally the first impression, the first psychological response, be it "oh it's cute!" or "oh, it's fierce!", it defines furries as a hobby-fetish-culture thing. It's a tool for expression, used and misused by those who can't quite express themselves right.

German autism proving my theory correct.

Huh. Furry stereotypes? Like what? Didnt know there were stratifications within the culture

A lot of it is likely Furries missing that easy, nice time when they were children and watched and played content with anthropomorphic animals in it and wish to relive it. An argument for that is the incredible amounts of porn Renamon and Krystal get, both familiar in many furrie's childhood.

the map was originally made by Germans for Germans, then the English jumped the wagon when it turned English because they will flood any place that speaks their language.

>Like what?

stereotypes, more like, though more often than not, they are usually turned on their head because these are very dysfunctional people after all, and they wear their insecurities on a badge.

-Bears are all gay. ALL gay. Also unintelligent oafs and cowards.
-Dogs are basic bitches with no personality of their own who want to make friends quickly because they suck at keeping them
-Cats are unptight, sensible cunts who desperately want to come off as fun, playful kitties because they're aware of it.
-Foxes always think they're more interesting(and attractive) than they are.
-Wolves are the wannabe chad of animals, the hallmark of the insecure asshole who's never been respected by anyone IRL.
-Tigers and Lions are the gay equivalent of the wolf.
-Bunnies are even more of an uptight cunt than Cats but also controlling and without any of the awareness.
-Dragons are like wolves times a thousand and many are straight up sociopathic sadists, they're the creeps who talk like they're doms in BDSM porn in normal conversations

and so on.

MODS AIEEEE

At least Lindy is pure of heart and soul.
Like every true Briton.

You know, I saw this put my euphoric skeptic cap on, thought that maybe this mostly lined up with population density, but while that might explain away England, Belgium and Germany, the low numbers in some other countries interfere with that. Italy, for example, is 182 people per square kilometre, while Germany is only moderately more at 233. If there's a relation it does not scale directly

That said, Germany, Belgium and England all do have extremely high population density and I don't think its a co-incidence. It's hard to make out Austria on this map, but the fact that I can see its name implies that maybe it's at least more clustered around the major cities there. Note that while austria has a moderate overall population density, it is quite high around the cities, and with its shared language and open border with germany we could hypothesis that its essentially piggybacking off the furry subculture there, engaging a larger percentage of furries who would be inactive in other, similarly dense societies

I'm going to propose that there is a critical mass somewhere between a population density of 182 and 233 at which fringe and/or socially abnormal subcultures will absolutely explode.

The pop density map in Canada, where skallagrim lives, considers >50 per square kilometre to be extremely high, so he's in the wrong place for it.

I like skallagrim. He seems extremely good natured and did nothing wrong.

This was actually very informative, user.
Thank you!

and thank you for your attention user, have a saucy goat

no

>his youtube avatar has been a bear wearing a helmet for the past forty seven years
how did you not notice

Lindy and Matt Easton are goat

>60s-70s
m8 people have been anthropomorphising animals, fucking/sexualising animals, dressing up as animals and, most importantly, dressing up as animals to honour sexualised anthropomorphic animal deities for thousands of years. Furries go WAY further back. They're an inherent disease of civilisation, if not humankind as a whole.

anthroporphic animal interest yes, it's timeless, but the furry fandom, the word furry and the common use of it begin there, that was the question.

what would be the stereotypes of like an alligator or a turtle?

or are reptiles a different thing all together?

You can't apply the term furry to religious worshiping hundreds of years ago. It's be like equating pre-christian pagan beliefs to modern wicca, got some things in common but is still different and done for completely different reasons. Fucking animals isn't furry or at least that's what the average furry will tell you.
