thomas aquinas

Athanasius
Augustine
Aquinas

Something I always wanted to know

is Aquinas a big figure in Catholicism today?

No,

Aquinas is only known among those that study that time period

The Catholic Church today, the vast majority, even the pope, would have no knowledge who Aquinas is

only specialized scholars

Kent Hovind
Ken Ham
Ray Comfort

pastor anderson

Karl Barth seems pretty based

Weird he isn't more well known

I think he was being a smartass.

I think.

Augustine
Calvin
Platinga

>year of our lord 2116
>pastor anderson is official theologian of kjv only catholic church
>underground resistance movement forms around the theology of thomas aquinas
>the soul-winning comittee's anti-heresy division brutally hunts them down and imprisons them
>all given shots of vitamin k
>they return to the kjv only catholic fold
many such cases

The names on this list probably

>C.S Lewis
>no Kierkegaard

From what I've seen Lewis' arguments are the type that push people away from Christianity imo.

...

kierkegaard is not real christian theology

Why not?

kierkegaard is
>LoOk HoW oRiGinaL I Am: tHe tHeOLogy

...

Nestorius, Babai, Ephrem

...

his majesty

...

Newton was an atheist i believe

no he was a deist a super spoopy occultist

This. Finally a good answer

is that actually a painting of kierkegaard

What makes a theologian great?

confident smile and a firm handshake

that is a myth invented by stupid (not fact loving) Atheists he actually had more theological researches than scientific ones

true that!

confident smile and a firm handshake

Origen
St. Augustine
Aquinas

Wasn't he obsessed with bible study and a belief that the trinity was actually one being?

yep, just goes to show that 99% of the religious "debates" over the first and second millennia were aspies arguing over semantics. When one said Asuka was best girl, and the other Rei, well then the soldiers had to come beacuseyoursouldwillbesavedyaddayaddagetwiththekilling and then the whole of humanity would know that ASUKA IS, WAS, AND WILL ALWAYS BE BEST GIRL. amen. Just go into a thread of weebs discussing Evangellion in a flash of lightning the history of the West will reveal itself to you.

I'm sure early Bible scholars were like those edgelords that draw "x the hedgehog" on deviant art. They would now be making 3hr YouTube videos about the continuity errors in Spongebob Squarepants, or Elder Scrolls lore.

most of these aspies go into academia now, rather than study the bible. typical mouthbreathing religious debate: Sargon vs. Thunderf00t.

I would've been a knight.

C.S. Lewis
C.S. Lewis
C.S. Lewis

>typical mouthbreathing religious debate: Sargon vs. Thunderf00t
but
aren't they both atheists?

Luther
Melanchthon
Kierkegaard

Ancient:
Clemens
Basil
Chrysostomos

Mid time
Aquinas
Palamas
Luther

Modern:
Paul Tillich
Pannenberg
Bultmann (bad, but VERY influential)

There's only one drawing of Kierkegaard from when he was alive as far as I know and it's the unfinished sketch, the really qt one

Augustine
Aquinas
Kierkegaard (even though he was a dirty proddie)
t. Went to Catholic School

...

Aquinas
Luther
Calvin

He probably had the best hair of any philosopher at least until Nietzsche

Aquinas
Calvin
Erasmus

Who was the Patriarch that debated theology with one of the caliphs?

The only problem with Aquinas is that I believe he never accepted the divinity of Jesus...

Explain how you came to this conclusion.

he mentions Arius in his Summa

and so...?

Timothy I

Jacques Maritain
Karol Wojtyla
Eleonor Stump

Nice, agreed.

For my money:
Augustine, Anselm, and maybe Duns Scotus. Barth ain't a bad choice either.

R. Dawkins
D. Dennet
S. Harris

Augustine
Aquinas
Calvin

Yep, and thunderfoot is an ethnic Jew

This bait isn't too bad

>No R. Gervais

He is yeah. If you even tip your toes into Catholic theology you're going to touch on Aquinas. If you open the Catechism of the Catholic Church there are many references to Aquinas (among many references to Church Fathers and other theologians). Even when just having conversations about Catholicism with my priest he's mentioned Aquinas. The downside is that people can emphasize Aquinas to the point where other great scholastic philosophers and theologians like Scotus, William of Ockham, Bonaventure, etc. can go ignored. Some Catholics are Aquinaboos to the extent that you'd think Catholic philosophy started with Aquinas.

Or G. Carlin.

Do people think Aquinas was a good philosopher

Martin Luther
Sören Kierkegård
Augistine

what is meant with greatest? who converted the most?

William J Seymour
Jimmy Swaggart
Brother Nathanael

Sargoy is at least accepting of religions in people lives, Thunderf00t is full antitheist "GOD DONT REAL I AM VERY SMART!!!"

Don't forget Pelagius.

3 of these 4 were born outside the Roman Empire and the other got kicked out.

No wonder they're so pure from paganism.

>Aquinas
>Augustus
>C.S Lewis
prove me wrong

>Augustus

lel

I actually spelled it Augustinus first but then chuckled at my own retardation and fixed it

might be time for bed

lol

St paul
Aquinas
Augustine

is it true that Aquinas was a follower of Arius?
