they were all dead by then

the crusaders sacked it first.
if anything they hasted its fall.

the ottomans beat them at varna 10 years earlier

The only successful crusades were the Baltic Crusade and the Iberian one. By the time the Ottomans, were dealt with at Vienna, Europe had become more than powerful enough to not care about Islam.

>By the time the Ottomans, were dealt with at Vienna, Europe had become more than powerful enough to not care about Islam.
Yeah no... that might be partially true for the stronger powers, but if the Sultan had remembered to bring enough cannon's to the battle, Bolan would have gotten Turk'd hardcore.

Albigensian crusade was also successful. I don't see any Cathars around, do you?

Ottomans received support from a variety of Christian powers (often Serb statlets who wanted to gain dominance in the region) during their initial expansion
The idea of a Christian Europe uniting to fight muslims is basically a complete meme

Reclaiming Jerusalem wasn't a success?

Oh yeah how could we forget the Christian Kingdom of Jerusalem that still exists to this day, truly a resounding success!

>there will never be an independent Cathar Republic in Occitania

;_; Why even live?

If lasting to this day is your metric, everyone is a failure and destined to be a failure.

The European Powers attempted to relieve the Byzantines in 1444, but were destroyed by Murad's forces in Bulgaria, where the King of Poland was killed in the battle of Varna.

After that defeat, there was really nothing they could do to save the Byzantines.

Not the Northern Crusade. Not the Cathar Crusade. Not the Reconquista. These are all "successes", as opposed to your moronic assertion of Jerusalem, which is what we grown ups call a "failure", much like you, and much like the birth control your whore mother used.

His metric is retarded, but come on, that was not a very long lasting state. And I think the point he was trying to make was that a true success would have meant actually enacting substantial religious change making the holy land christian again even if the crusader state itself didn't live that long instead of planting a flag on it for 200 or so years.

>what is the crusade of nicopolis
>what is the crusade of varna
>what is mohacs
>what is the holy league
>what is lepanto
>le catholics didnt help byzantine against the turks meme

orthocucks should be gassed

They tried several times before 1453 but they got rekt all those times.
Only when the ottomans were reaching central europe did they try to unite.

Dont you count Russian expansionism as a win for Orthodoxy?

The Kingdom of Jerusalem lasted for almost 200 years mate. That's longer than most modern countries have existed.

After 1300, Europe was far less able to mount full crusades, and the subsequent events called "crusades" were more like individual battles/raids.

This had to do with economic problems, the Black Death, the Hundred Years War, famines, etc.

See this:

They were defeated about a decade prior by Ottoman forces. Venetians helped defend the walls as allies.

>What is the 1204 sack of Constantinople

>be a perfidious Greek
>bring 10,000 Frankish crusaders to your city, set them outside the walls for a year doing nothing and don't pay them
>shocked when they sack your city

They were dead for like 200 years by then.

It's worse than that
>be perfidious greek, call enemy general in the city to discuss terms
>murder him while his army waits at the doors
>have the gall to cry foul when the enemy rightfully considers your act a break of truce and renews the assault

This is Veeky Forums, don't confuse the children.

fuck the crusaders

>Byzantine calls for help
>4th Crusade starts
>they arrive at Constantinople
>the Byzantines open the gates to welcome their Christian broters
>the Crusaders pillage and loot the city, slaughtering the civilians en masse
>divide up the Roman Empire into smaller Latin units
>permanently weaken the strength against Islam
>Byzantine barely rises again
>Turks can just march in and take the city
DEUS VULT!!!

Alt-history to Veeky Forums user.

> The European Powers

Poland, Hungary, Bohemia, and Lithuania, lets not mince words.

The rest of Europe didn't show up.

They were busy getting their shit pushed in.
