This guy is said to be really pragmatic and conservative. What long-lasting legacy did he leave behind, in terms of statesmanship? I ask this, because some people think that, because he's too pragmatic, he lacked the big vision to influence the future. Kind of like saying that visionary statesmen might fail in their lifetime but their legacy can still be felt even today.

I actually see that he's not as pragmatic as people make him out to be. Unless I'm mistaken, he was really serious about making a stable central Europe and balance of power overall, and such vision might influence post-war Germany (rather than, say, the 1848 revolutionaries).
