Its native messaging and file sharing system is almost complete (just a bit of regression tests and the dev being ocd about perfection) other than that its gotten VC interest. Ethereum also has issues with bottlenecking when ICOs are going on. Which isn't reliable, if a single ICO can shutdown the network, then what's the point.
ENS imo isn't as user friendly just because of how mist and the entire ethereum network is setup. Plus the encryption isnt as good.
Again network bloat can cause problems with the messaging system imo
