What is the possibility that a major cultural shift will occur on Veeky Forums? Between Veeky Forums, Veeky Forums, Veeky Forums, and maybe a few others, what's the chance that something groundbreaking or revolutionary actually begins on this taiwanese anus forum?

>implying it hasn't already begone
get in the loop, friend

It did. Veeky Forums created the Kek meme but for some reason it's associated mostly with /pol/.

>implying that Veeky Forums hasn't already fallen to Islam.

I'm talking something more than just a meme spammed on Veeky Forums's own boards

It already fucking occurred
>Old Veeky Forums
Ironic, doesn't take itself seriously, memes mean nothing.
>New Veeky Forums
Unironic, takes itself waay to seriously, memes convey socio-political messages.

New Veeky Forums sounds like autism.

The origin of the posters is already significantly different.

Old Veeky Forums: weebs moving on from forums
New Veeky Forums: edgy teens looking for role models

it already did

originally it was an anime board filled with weeaboos

now it's stromfront

>Neo-Veeky Forums
memes purvey coded messages between resistance members against the cyber-oligarchy that have monopolized the web and re-purposed it entirely as a means of social surveillance and control.

Fucking New York Times wrote about it, is that enough?

fake news

Get lost Anglo.

hopefully this site implodes upon itself and returns to it's roots

>Anglo
I ain't no beady eyed poofter, yer cunt

Veeky Forums has changed little

/pol/ inherited the torch of old /b/ of causing maximum butthurt 24/7 and ya'll simply need to accept this

It looks like the most butthurted ones are generally /pol/acks themselves.

100% this

>2008
>stop posting /b/ shit MOOODS BAN HIM this shit belongs on /b/ this is a blue board stop raiding us fucking /b/tards
Now just replace /b/ with /pol/ and it's the same shit.

Old /b/ is so far removed from any current Veeky Forums paradigm it's absurd. You clearly weren't there if you think this. Most of the memes were pure childish absurdity, because the userbase was all teenagers. It really was more of an anime forum in those days, with its own cast of characters (happy negro, cockmongler, gaston, desu etc)

Stop posting.

You say that as if /b/ in 2008 and /pol/ in 2016+ aren't both cancerous and mostly underage cesspools that lower the quality of Veeky Forums as a whole with their hyperactive shitposting.

What form of Kek did Veeky Forums inspire? I thought it came from WoW.

You're saying that as if we aren't fucking ecstatic about being cancer.

The frog god shit is from Veeky Forums, I was in the original thread.

Who is 'we'?

Me and your mother.

>Ironic, doesn't take itself seriously, memes mean nothing.
Obvious people discussing the subject matter took it seriously enough to consider it a hobby or interest. Of course you had /b/ which was "just for the lulz" but it's not like some weeb on /a/ wasn't serious about anime or some geek on /v/ wasn't serious about vidyagames.

I miss when people obeyed Rules 1 and 2. Now we're flooded with "normies". /pol/ is the biggest board by a mile. The popularity of /pol/ with a userbase from outside of Veeky Forums IS the cultural shift.

I don't understand what point you're trying to make. Who is the 'we' that are 'ecstatic about being cancer'?

The problem is snowflakes who think anything "politically incorrect" is /pol/.

Early /a/ was pretty much just mild /h/ the only thing being taken seriously was masturbation.

I'm gonna didgeridoo yer anus, cunt.

Nothing changed, to be honest.

Content is irrelevant. The popularity of /pol/ is bleedover from social media (those stupid facebook meme pages for example).

Absolutely, but before Reddit and the_donald flooded /pol/, it was actually a far more "edgy" and "racist" board than it is now. Now it's cuckold central. Look at 8/pol/ if you want to see what /pol/ looked like before 2014.

That's like saying chemo is the problem with cancer. One is a reaction to the other and wouldn't be around without it. If there wasn't a problem with 16 year olds flagrantly shitposting across Veeky Forums in the name of the half-baked political ideology they picked up on /pol/ there wouldn't be people telling others to 'go back to /pol/.

it really isn't, keep on regurgitating that "old /b/ was innocent lol cats and anime shoops" narrative though

the only thing /pol/ is missing are the nightly unironic CP dumps

I never said it was innocent, but things like calling Mitch's family to say "help wheres my ipod" was the exception, not the rule. Sure there were constant nigger jokes, but people weren't anything like they are today simply by virtue of being significantly younger.

>Most of the memes were pure childish absurdity, because the userbase was all teenagers.
Yeah except for all the gore spam, doxing, child porn, blackmail, people threatening to blow up stadiums and shoot up schools and various criminal shit, raids, etc.

>Early /a/ was pretty much just mild /h/ the only thing being taken seriously was masturbation.
But it's not those people weren't serious weebs.

You sir are and idiot! Do you really think /pol/ cucks are baby boomers with respectable jobs? There is no way the average real age is higher than 17.

>/pol/ inherited the torch of old /b/
Old /b/ wasn't serious.

/pol/ is.

When Billo called Veeky Forums an "internet hate machine." /b/ rode it for the lulz.
When Pepe was called a "symbol of hate," /pol/ thought they started a social movement and announced to everyone they're some secret club.

Veeky Forums doesn't even think it's own ideas are any good. How often is a dead thread ever mentioned again say through a link in an archive or a copy paste?

Veeky Forums trends for contrarianism, so when a major cultural shift occurs in real life we tend to see our own shifts.

>say through a link in an archive or a copy paste?

Not that way, but through screencaps? Frequently. That's not to mention jokes/memes that arise from those threads, even if the threads themselves vanish into obscurity.

>Rules 1 and 2
Moralfag cancer that started with chanology, but frankly I always adhered to those principles regardless. I never talked about Veeky Forums in real life, never plastered imageboard memes all over Facebook, didn't crack shitty candlejack jokes IRL, etc. It just always felt absurd and rage inducing to see someone IRL with a trollface t-shirt or something, these things always become a parade of subhumanity once you take them outside of imageboards. Take that Kekistan shit for example, fat fucks in Pepe t-shirts and Superman capes shouting idiotic slogans at a political rally. Literally just a 2017 iteration of chanology.

I'm talking 04-06 as early /b/

I arrived in mid 06 and it was already like that. In fact I discovered it through gurochan when people from there habitually spammed guro hentai on /b/.

Jokes and memes are the only thing Veeky Forums does bother rembering.

Think about it. If Veeky Forums itself doesn't think it's ideas are worth rescuing from obscurity why would anyone else? In contrast thinking that does have long term effects is archived and remembers for centuries. We STILL pass around the 'copy pasta' that Plato made 2,500 years from now.

Veeky Forums just creates sensationalism that lasts a brief period of time accomplishes nothing but getting a few lulz and moves on to the next gimmick. That's the point of ALL of it's movements, to get a rise out of people. We're talking about a group of people so powerless that they think Donald Trump mentioning their frog meme in a tweet is an accomplishment.

Veeky Forums needs a femanon camposter who frequents the site. We need a queen of Veeky Forums.

There are more female posters than you'd expect. They hide their identities for obvious reasons.

>on one hand i think weaboos significantly lower the quality of every thread they touch.
>on the other hand stormfront does the exact same thing.
Not sure how i feel.

Anonymity breaks spiral of silence (google it) about sensitive topics like race. If I never found Veeky Forums, I'd still think that only the odd Derek Vinyard types on the fringe of society are still racist in the US. You may be tempted to say that Veeky Forums *is* on the fringe on society, but I don't believe you. Pretty sure Veeky Forums user base is made of average middle class kids.

I can be one, but I am not female and don't visit frequently.

Veeky Forums's purpose isn't to create something lasting in that way, that's not what this website is for. This place is PURPOSELY fleeting. Nobody posts their fucking life's work essay in a thread on Veeky Forums expecting it to live on, they post things here expecting it to flash for a few hours then 404 at the end. People who try to establish a 'reputation' here (IE tripfags) are openly despised. Criticizing Veeky Forums for this feature is like criticizing a blender because it broke when you tried to drive it to work.

Already happened. Now it'll just become more and more extreme

It came from a corruption of Loving Every Laugh

>they post things here expecting it to flash for a few hours then 404 at the end

And that's why Veeky Forums won't have any long term effects. As you said it was specifically designed to avoid them. I know people think /pol/ has done a thing or two but remember that by Veeky Forums standards anything that lasts longer than the length of a thread is a "long term effect"

haven't you been paying attention?
/pol/ has already created a generation or two of nationalists/traditionalists

its literally already happened: the first major youth pushback since the marxists won the culture-war in the 60s

>didn't crack shitty candlejack jokes IRL

Good, because you clearly have no idea how candleja

Well, /pol/ already make new generation of right wing movement mainly composed of youth and teenagers, its unprecedented since the 50s, when youths has always been associated with the left wing, and its happens just when we thought racism would finally disappear when old generations are gone

/pol/ didn't create anything, its just an outlet for kids to push back against what their authority figures have pushed on them.
even if all that means is being edgy and calling each other niggers and faggots and posting frog memes.

except its created actual radicals and foundation to real life organised movements which is beyond anything seen for decades

Veeky Forums's long term effects are largely cultural meme tier shit, not masterworks of philosophy.

>actual radicals and foundation to real life organised movements which is beyond anything seen for decades
gonna need a source for that sport

Childish and embarrassing attitude. If your identity is centered around making other people angry, you don't have an identity.

/pol/ is the new /b/

More surprising than /pol/ is how many posters are looking to religion as an answer. I wonder how the Church will feel about most new Catholic converts beginning their spiritual life on Veeky Forums.

/pol/ only created a terminology for a small sub-culture
the broader "alt-right youth movement" or whatever you want to call it isn't all that wrapped up in the memes as you think, not to mention there isn't a huge up swell in conservative kiddos, they just have a common language we can recognize them by. Outside of a few envlaves in social media there is little to no evidence that a conservatism is making an uptick in younger people

And the thread is asking if Veeky Forums can start any real movement. You know stuff beyond funny twitter activity.

there are people who will believe this, lawd

but i like 4 chan this way

This, I remember times when we trolled Mormons with magnets and the majority of the internets was atheist and depraved anyways.

OK faggot, tell me how the meme got invented?

Lol>lel>kek
Don't know which board though. Different guy btw

>a meme website falling for an anti-bacon cult

i dont think so

Post more muslim cuties.

...

Lel this.
>bawwwww I don't like that answer go back to /pol/

>He takes everything /pol/ does 100% seriously

this

Top kek. 8/7 nostalgias.

/pol/ certainly does.

are you a /pol/ expert or something?

>people bought into the shitty mainstream revisionism
lel

lol -> lulz -> lel -> kek -> jej

also top gun -> top lel -> top kek

two different roots created the top kek. The top gun meme and the corruption of lol

kek from wow is just a convenient fall back because its easy to explain to general public who has no clue. The similarity is purely coincidental.

Good post. Even better analysis here.

dont forget "epic" in there somewhere, 4chans forgotten shame

I seriously miss lulz. Lulz iteration best iteration.

he meant tying kek to the egyptian frog deity whose glyph looks like a frog on a computer and turning it into a cult that incorporated ubiquitous memes of Veeky Forums like pepe and dubs which were believed to possess supernatural powers ("meme magic")

It was 10 years ago. People stopped using that after some shitty mainstream media "geek girl" used it on some youtube video.

Shitposting as a Turk is an excellent way to get people pissed off.

Yes except none of the irrelevant boards you mention do anything. /pol/ has already achieved this. Current post-/pol/ochaust /pol/ is so very stale and their vision has been completely territorialized and boxed in so they will have to find something else though it is hard to say what. Veeky Forums cannot lead to any changes because most people on there are simply with the status quo. Same for Veeky Forums because none of that Nick Land posting is going to catch on, nor should it.

>cesspool

It means this site isn't for you baby

We already got Trump elected :^)

I didn't mean the word kek, but the frog god thing. It was first posted on here because some user found it on wiki, and in the same thread people mentioned how the hieroglyphic symbol is a guy sitting behind a computer and how cool it was if we turned it into a Veeky Forums religion.

?

It all comes down to the userbase, and as a veteran I can say sternly that this isn't the same website or community that it used to be, including the mods and janitors, and it's far worse. This site hasn't shown signs of life in over a year, and that is not an overreaction as I have endured the decline for much longer than that.

If it does happen it'll be due to /pol/ not due to Veeky Forums, Veeky Forums or Veeky Forums.

Pretty high since we're a bunch of counter culture contrarians and the right is "in" at tge moment so we as a site will lean to the left.

Except when its about race and bitches because fuck both thise groups. Black people are dumb and obnoxious but somehow good at talking to women and women strung me along but never got on my dick.
