We know Hitler had an abusive and dominant father. Now if we look at Stalin we see a man who is everything Hitler wanted to be but more extreme: more territory, more brutal rule, older, bigger moustache, an entire city named after him, more guns and tanks etc...

Stalin had a similarly strange relationship with Hitler. He refused to believe Hitler had ordered Barbarossa at first (thinking it was a rogue general or something), and apparently genuinely believed a German-Soviet alliance was possible, right up until the war began.
It seems like each of them had a grudging respect for the other. If they had met in person, like Putin and Trump met a few days ago, I think the war could have been avoided.
