How can average IQ in China be around 105 when most of the population is dirt poor farmers with barely any education?

China also has the biggest urban population in the world, and it's only growing at extremely high rates. It's well over 56% at this point. Compared to say, 2010 when it was 49%.

An accurate Chinese would be at around 100(higher than US average(98)), given the large disparity between urban/rural. If their rural states develop in the coming decades, this average will rise back up to ~105 or even 108 like other developed East Asian countries. However that will take few more decades.

Having worked in admissions and TA'd, it's pretty comical to see Chinese who are top quintile in English verbal reasoning according to the GRE who can barely write coherent English. They pay full price though so they always get in.

The pre-industrial europeans copied from the arabs.

Chinese students have been taking over many of the top universities. Infact in the US, there's a bamboo ceiling so the asian-americans don't outnumber the whites in the higher ed system. The only state that doesn't allow this is california. In this you see the Chinese higher ed students outnumbering the whites.

Environment has a huge impact on IQ. Genetics only explains a large chunk of variance when you look at people living in largely similar environments.

IQ has risen almost two standard deviations since the 1930s. That's not from changing genetics.

As for Chinese at top schools, I know. They pay full sticker price. They get let in even if they are grossly unqualified and rubber stamped through.

I had graduate students who literally couldn't write 8th grade English getting Master's degrees and we're a top 10 school.

What these IQ tests don't account for women menstruating who have shown to have astronomically high intelligence levels for that brief period of time. Suppose the women tested were on their cycles at this time, it could manipulate the numbers. Not to mention some countries have caught on to this and scored higher than others.

There are more poor people born in India than India can educate them.

This run away effect leads to lower IQ. Like China, when they're both developed properly, their IQ will rise up. China's IQ is ~100 for average but its true IQ will probably be 105 once they've developed the rural sides.

Likewise, India's IQ right now is a ~85 due to them have shitloads(pardon the pun) of poor and undereducated people. Once they develop, they'll be around ~100 or so. China's goal is much more doable in short run due to state mandated effort on education is strict. India's efforts are bit loose as they're based on democratic principles and the power to change are based on local people.
