good point. imo they started gravitating from libertarianism to authoritarianism/fascism after the failure of figures like ron paul to make any political impact. they felt like right wing authoritarianism was the ideological antidote to the rise of sjws, when in fact they both resemble each other very much.

Even up until WW2 it was still a major force. the french military was filled with old school traditionalists and De Gaulle was raised in a Monarchist environment, but Vichy tainted traditionalism in France nearly beyond repair. So De Gaulle had to settle for a presidential monarchy
