Why are dirty plays by the Allies not common knowledge today? I can understand why it wasn't in the past, but enough time has passed that incidents like this should be as well known as D-day. This event resulted in a dirtier war and easily caused thousands of additional unnecessary deaths.

Obviously it's because the Allies won. Countries rarely prosecute their own side unless the folks back home get angry about it anyway.

Because this wouldn't be the first time the krauts tried to pull a dirty trick in war.
There are many accounts of krauts shooting at parachuting pilots (i.e. pilots who had bailed out of their planes).

Even that kraut Rommel faked surrendering to a french unit in 1940 right until his tanks got close enough to open fire. That's not including the dozens of stunts the krauts pulled on the eastern front on soviet divisions stupid enough to believe that Fritz was really surrendering.
Doesn't matter whether it's land, sea, or air, never trust a kraut.
But the biggest and dirtiest trick by the allies was holding back the post-war street justice demanded by Russians, Ukrainians, Jews, Dutch, French, Czechoslovakia, Belgium, Polish, Yugoslav, Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, etc, etc...

The plausibility of such an offer aside, they didn't inform the Northern Irish government (stormont) of this, and Stormont only found out decades later at roughly the same time the general public did.

You're 100% wrong. In fact, Hitler was not even elected democratically and had not received more than 40 odd percent in any of the democratic elections. Even a single Wiki skim tells you that much you armchair historian.
I'm talking about approval ratings after he started to put policies into place, I recommend you read actual history books instead of wikipedia. Hitler was extremely popular with the Germans. They saw him as putting them into work and making Germany strong and glorious again. Most also bought into his racial ideas. Germans love that shit, to them ethnicity has always been at least partially a racial concept and animosity towards Poles in Germany and Czechs in Austria was common as well. And of course no people likes Jews, they have that talent.
