>tfw in actual history the Abbassid Caliphate was a cosmopolitan multicultural empire like that of Rome where free thought was allowed to flourish, Christians participated as highest ministers in the government of the Khalifa, and even atheists could freely speak their mind and publish books

>modern day jihadiboos think the khilafa even remotely resembled their desert shithole where they behead everyone who thinks differently and keep women in cages

Why? Can someone explain the stark contrast to me? The scientific golden age of the calilphate resulted from greek and syriac scientific literature, not from following hadiths and fatwas.

Screw cosmopolitanism. I rather live with Islamic fundamentalism.

TAKBIR!

>Cosmopolitanism
I'd rather be an Anarcho-Islamist bedouin in Arabian dunes than a fucking multiculturalist subhuman

14 centuries of inbreeding have rendered Muslims completely fucking retarded

This

BI-ISM ALLAH!

the Abbasids failed to emulate Muhammed (pbuh). ISIS is truer than the Abbasid Takfiris

>talks about Abbassid Caliphate
>pic is Umayyad
What did he mean by this?

>Islamic golden age
you mean the recovery of Greek, Roman, and Persian manuscripts that they didn't burn in the 7th century
and the discoveries of predominantly Zoroastrian Persian scholars thereafter

"Hey man, we didn't destroy these records, therefore you should thank us for a golden age!" - what Muslims literally believe

Actually it's much worse than that.
>hey guys, this handful of books we didn't burn? Yeah, we wrote them
>What's a Greek? No seriously we wrote these books, they are of belong to us

Christians burned books allright, anything that was "haram" according to chalcedonian sharia and Christians fled to Sassanids esspecialyly during Justinians persecution of pagans, go read about the exodus of neo platonists

at least the dumb arab sandniggers were smart enough to copy paste greek shit, your "christian" europeans did not gave a fuck, it is because of their apathy a lot of aristotelean work arrived to western europe not through greek but through arabic translations

Albertus Magnus translated from Arabic, not from Greek.

And greeks borrowed all their maths and science from the assyrians and babylonians, what's your point?

When arabs do it its "they just stole from indians and persians"
When Greeks do it its "original invention", one fucker even said greek invented "proof" while there are babylonian tablets with mathematical proofs.
In reality both people contributed to the general knowledge but since one side is mudslime they don't count.

> "christian" europeans did not gave a fuck
>what are monastic libraries
>who was Saint Bede the Venerable
Next thing that you'll be telling me is that, medieval scholars thought the earth was flat

Answer my question, why Albertus Magnus had to translate Aristotle from Arabic to Latin and not Greek to Latin

Not him, but probably because Alexandria and many other Hellenistic era libraries had fallen to Arab hands and they kept the originals while circulating translations. Idk that for a fact.

Why did the chruch go through great lengths to preserve classical knowledge after the fall from Rome if the "did not give a fuck"?

Muslims controlled egypt and levant and other hellenized regions around 700 A.D., from Constantine you had 400 years that you could get aristotle from ERE, yet it was lost and it is due to sandnigger translation, not sandnigger destruction that west rediscovered aristotle
It did a shit job, that was my point, The fact that you "rediscovered" aristotle from the fucking sandniggers should be enough source of shame arabs give a bigger fuck about a lot of works than the Christians themselves, that is the reason a lot of the "rediscovered" works of antiqutiy are translated from arabic. Mind you this rediscovery happened in centuries later, you in 1100s and afterwards.
This should be a shame for all Christians, you had to translate from people who were illeterate nomads few centrueis ago, and your anti philosophical attitude (ala anything not christian philosophy and even chrisitan philsoohpy was highly selective, see how origens writings were trashed)Similarly arabs should be ashamed of al ghazali and his anti philosophical attitude taking hold.

People like Aquinas not only used the arab tnraslations but also arab philosophers in their work.

Moreover, church selectively preserved the antiquity, just as it selectively preserved the christian writings, Ramsay Macmullen cites a book where a rare work of cicero is written over by St Augustines work, which can be found in hundreds of copies.

Philosophy esspecially had a bad reputation due to pagans dominating it up until 7th century. Saint Justinian himself closed the philosophy school of Athens.

>arabs give a bigger fuck about a lot of works than the Christians themselves
Well maybe, just maybe, not all classical works were equally available across the Europe and the Mediterranean given the crumbling empires, wars, and shifting borders. Thus not every work is available to every scholar

Which one of his books did he use that citation for?
I would genuinely like to read it.

Sardinia was never under muslim rule, i don't get that map
The coast were occupied for a couple of years but the arabs always wrote how much losses they got trying to conquer the island

Islam was codified under the Abbassids and most of their population wasn't yet Muslim. The religion didn't even begin to be strictly defined until the late Umayyad. So it took centuries for the totalitarian nature of Islam to clamp down on the Middle East because the hadiths weren't even written until the Abbassid era.

Jewish lies

First of all, your typing is poor.

Secondly, you do realize that the majority of the translators into Arabic were Christians, don't you? Syriac was already a classical language, studied if not understood largely by clergy, by the time the translating started.

Or rather, dialect.

I imagine many must've starved on the long trip there.

that is not the abassid caliphate and the muslim subhumans are LARPing as the Fatimid caliphate

that map is all wrong

this desu

t. t*rk

ALLAHU-AKBAR!

Because this one guy who managed to make himself very important managed to convince everyone that mathematics is the devil.

Arabs lost a fleet of 200 ships going there according to their accounts

>What's a Greek
I am Greek

>scientific golden age of the caliphate
Islam had nothing to do with Iranians, Indians, Berbers, and non-Arabs contributing to high culture to be quite honest.

Nah we had more freedom under the Sassanid Persians than we did under Arab occupation being reduced to second class citizen Dhimmitude and having to pay extra tax and having our countrymen enslaved for the caliph in Damascus.

Are you Georgian by chance?

You know how Roman authors go on and on about how decadent their contemporary empire was and wished how everything went back to the virtuous good old days of the early Republic? And you know how Western political thought idolizes that Republic while most of Rome's greatness and legacy comes down from the later more decadent eras?

Modern jihadists idolize the Rashidun Caliphate, or rather what late Umayyad and Abbasid theologians believed the Rashidun Caliphate was in contrast with their multicultural and permissive society.

>and the discoveries of predominantly Zoroastrian Persian scholars thereafter
Name one.

It did when Islam literally defined said high culture for Iranians, Indians, Berbers, and non-Arabs (most of whom all identified culturally as Arab).

That's a nice lie, Satan.

When people say Islamic golden age, they are referring to an era where literature and ideas was spreading throughout the Islamic world, not that it was Muslims actually doing it although lots of Muslims did contribute. Kinda like how the Romans didn't invent everything the Romans used and spread about their empire.

I don't know why the term 'Islamic golden age' is such a controversial topic here (other than its because its the Muslims of coarse), having ideas spread from ancient Persia and India and rediscovering ancient works and having them spread about to the point where Cordoba in fucking Spain (of all places) was a center of learning is quite the feat.

>Cordoba

Speaking of which, how do Spanish people think of the Moors? Considering a good chunk of their population is descended from Moors that converted to Catholicism. And that their language and culture is full of Arabic derived stuff.

Hey satan, nice lie

>Takes over the millenia old, culturally rich areas of Egypt, Syria, Mesopotamia, and Iran
>Filled with Syriac and Coptic Christian commentators and Roman bureaucrats
>The rich civilization of Iran which shits culture out the ass
>A tiny minority of arabs admittedly take over these swaths of land through a freak black swan nexus of events
>The same cultures slowly stop speaking their native languages and transition to arab (except the ever more populated Iran, and even then, with sizable minorities of indigenous speakers left)
>Still, its still the same millenia old Syriacs and Copts and Persians responsible for all of the genius "of the Caliphate"
>Hell, the Persian ones twist the arab aspects of their culture so far away from its original message as to make them unrecognizable, then kick the arabs out (try seperating a Farsi speaker from his Rumi)

And yet admittedly, its all still one big cultural melting pot. A freak thing that would have never occurred were it not for one or two factors changed by a degree, but it did

And alot of those moors were originally Iberians who converted to Islam (not ruling out the mass influx of people from the maghreb, just pointing out that 'that' particular population exchange had been longgoing in that region of the world

Yeah, its weird. Like, I used to feel bad about all the Christian philosophers that used to come out of the middle east like John of Chrysostom or Philo of Alexandria, but really, they were just the Hammurabis of their day but from the same region. Islam only a skin change of middle eastern truth

What I don't get is why all that philosophy and literature stopped once the Turks took over. It's almost as if, oh wait...

I read an excellent long-form article about this subject, sort of a post mortem on the Muslim world. Apparently the fundamentalism shit was is all relatively recent and has a lot to do with the whole power struggle going on between Iran, Iraq, and especially Saudi Arabia who advanced the most fundamentalist sect of Islam.

Recent as in like post-WWII as opposed to medieval times.

You misunderstand, and none of it was a lie. There is a reason why a bureaucrat born and raised in Spain could travel all the way to India and still share the same culture and language as his fellow bureaucrats, and it certainly wasn't because said culture was just Christian Roman/Zoroastrian Persian culture with an Arabic translation. There was certainly some influence, but the stronger glue came from the Imperial identity that grew up around Islam.
