The collectivization, the purges and slave labor happened during Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej, before 1965. Ceausescu took part in the collectivization and he did attack a village that resisted but he isn't responsible for the whole process.
Ceausescu didn't build the Canal or the prison system or "killed hundreds of thousands through purges"
