It is a city state located on one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world with two massive resource extractions states nearby with big investments by the British (because an extrmely busy port needs infrastructre to operate and an imported educated class of Chinese people to run it) and close by to the other parts of Asia. Singapore WAS NEVER THIRD WORLD IN ANY STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION.

Singaporeanfag here, he was based but also very lucky. He managed to succesfully make Singapore a very nice port city and many in Singapore have body pillows of him. He also appeased to many minority groups (except poos in loos, fuck em) and pretty much anyone from any ethnicity can live there peacefully. However he had flaws, such as the old cliche of not keeping up with the times and fucking up his dynasty. In fact, very recently, his family started to chimp out and try to oust Lee Hsiang-Yang, Lee Kuan Yew's son, from presidency.

Basically it was great under his rule, even though he could've softened some rules. But his legacy will be fucked up since he allowed his family to be in charge of the government, causing nepotism and corruption. I very much predict that Singapore will be worse off in the future, and the country just past its peak.
