Part of that is latent Cold war animosity, but a lot of it is resentment of the transition from USSR to Russian Federation. Pedophilia is a strange topic for me. I've never been against LGB or T rights (completely seperate issues, don't let the commies trick you into lumping them together) and the only problem I see in these things is the suppression of dissent and the manipulation of language around them.

I even see value in recognizing that pedophilia is a mental disorder like any other (including gender dysphoria) that should not ruin someone's life if the public knows about it. Nobody chooses to be a pedophile.

But with the push for adoration and unequivocal support that has happened with "LGBT" people who used to be stigmatized in the same way as pedophiles, I'm worried that it won't stop at "it's a mental disorder, don't ruin his life, but probably keep him away from kids" , but move on to "oh my god you're so brave for being a pedophile in this bigoted society and we should all accept that kids can consent as well to end your terrible oppression".

There are already some extreme leftists saying that there's nothing wrong with being a pedophile and I'm afraid that any step in that direction will embolden them. Muh slippery slope that has been proven to be a relevant argument the the aforementioned issues. Except Hollywood's decisions show that generating revenue is not their highest priority. For example African-American leads hurt a movie's performance in valuable overseas markets such as China and it's why John Boyega was edited out of the Chinese "Force Awakens" poster. However Hollywood continues to promote ethnically diverse films despite the negative effect it has on revenue because they ultimately prioritize social conditioning over profit.
