Every man a Kang

>Every man a Kang
Was this the most dangerous man in American History

Non-American here. Who is this guy and why do you all have a hard on for him?

his S H A R E T H E W E A L T H program would make E V E R Y M A N A K I N G and fuck syndie scum up.

He was basically the last old-fashioned American populist, which lost-out to the social-democracy lite wing of the Democratic party and have basically ceased to exist since the 30's. FDR's Democrats hated his guts and it's probably why he was assassinated.

Huey P. Long, governor and Senator from Louisiana, American fascist/populist whose rise towards the White House was cut short by an assassin.

Personal story -- when Long was killed, local papers in the Carolinas were casting about for a picture of Dr. Weiss, the killer. My grandfather had pictures of Weiss from a shuffle-board tournament aboard a steam ship crossing the Atlantic where my grandfather defeated Weiss in the finals.

>fascist
How exactly?

Louisiana became an Autocracy during his governorship. I believe he also took over some large businesses and made them state run/dependent.

He made running against him nearly impossible.

> Was this the most dangerous man in American history

No. For Americans it'd be Buchanan. For non-Americans it'd be King George III.

The difference between FDR and Long is that Long's stance on wealth redistribution was based on his catholic upbringing teaching to take care of those less fortunate than us.

>Buchanan

The ballot was confusing.

Buchanan was just a mediocre guy thrown into difficult times, who failed. He needed to be more dangerous.

>King George III
I think you mean Parliament, the king had already lost much of his power post civil war and glorious revolution.

Yes, but he was an insincere populist leveraging that angle for more political power. He had zero interest in helping anyone other than himself.

he would have saved America, but (((they))) had him killed

Not to mention he didn't really DO anything.

Do I detect unamerican beliefs in this thread?
Hail MacArthur

I'd rather the CSA desu
fuck MacArthur

DIRECT RULE FROM LONDON is a much better saying

Overrated by people who want an American hitler to alt history wank with.

Confusing typical political machine politics as every party did in this era (see: Nucky Johnson) with fascism. Long was not a fascist no matter how much you jerk it to the thought.

Long was closer to Hugo Chavez than Adolf Hitler.

not so fast totalist scum

D I R E C T R U L E F R O M A T L A N T A

Huey would've been the American Caesar.

Long was a Baptist.

Was an american fascist that advocated for a virtual income limit (in the few billions of dollars), the surplus tax was to be realloted to the general population.

Was a conservative and anti-communist, was far more racially progressive than the liberal parties of his time.

Triggers both lolbergs and sjws 2bqh, based, the real human being we never got the best of

So he would have led to the end of the republic?

Keep in mind our education, blockbuster movies, and propaganda all make it look like he was the big bad. If you give a shit about history you should know otherwise, but the average normie's chances are low (at least where I'm from.)

Only if we were lucky. We got the worst timeline desu.

Some Fascist who died before he could fuck everything up.

Pat Buchanan?

>pass state law requiring all state payed employees to pay you 10% of there income into your private war chest
>fire state university coach for refusing to let you call plays from the front row of death valley
>state senator give you grief? bolt his senatorial chair to floor then drill hole in roof. call emergency session in middle of rain storm. watch the bastard squirm
>Exxon tries to leave town due to tax hike. force them to take top 10 feet of soil with them. they stay
>build bridge so low at the state line that all fully laden barges have to unload in Louisiana thus fucking of Mississippi to this day

for shits and giggles read about earl long

not catholic
as a matter of fact his first attempts of running a campaign were hindered by his difficulties with the catholic majorities in the south of the state

nothing wrong

>actually chosing American Caesar
Cincinnatus 4 lyf

You're thinking of JFK.

Those are just funny and clever, nothing fascist about that.

I personally think earl long is way more fascinating
>be governor
>get thrown against your will into mental hospital for being crazy
>no legal mechanism to remove governor for being loco
>fire head of state hospitals over the phone
>replace with your bro who changes the rules just long enough for you to get out
>It's good being the guvnah

finally, someone gets it!

he basically turned Louisiana into a one party state, with Long as pretty much undisputed ruler. He was basically a national socialist in a non Nazi sense. Strasser probably would have loved him (apart from anti semitism, although Long was willing to work with the ultimate anti-semite Charles Coughlin due to his economic views)

He had to be stopped, he was too dangerous to be left alive.

Then why did he back catholic candidates so much?

>t. FDR

I'm not sure about most dangerous, but there sure seem to be plenty of entertaining stories about him.

Was it autism?

Nah Louisiana politics was crazily corrupt at that time and full of those kinds of shenanigans he simply turned the corruption against the cities instead of the countryside

But if every man is a kang, then who will we claim we wuz?

It's a kaiserreich meme

Huey Long was a fascist?!?

Just no. There was things in the US during the 1930s that were closer to being fascist like the Sliver Legion and the Nazis party of America.

This may sound like a shock but Huey Long was the most black friendly american leader of the era. He viewed that racial tension inside the US were a means of dividing and conquering the common man used by the upper class.

I mean you could call him a fascist in that he is a right wing person who took some of the pages out of Marxism with accepting Marxism. However the whole racial/cultural purity, wanting wars of aggression, military build up, or calling from whole sell murder of people he does not like? No, not really.
