More like PIKE performance.

heh...kiddo

I love me some halberds though

>halberd
>not bardiche + arquebus
Do you even want to conquer the Muscovites?

It's even legal to brandish polearms in restrictive cities like Chicago, too. Defend yourself in style, make the staff an extension of your body. The degenerate American criminal will fall before the learned gentleman.

Proper sword still wins.

Why would you use anything but a smallsword in an environment where nobody is wearing armor

Good luck in Gary, Indiana

...

The hoosier fears the halberd

>bardiche and aquebus
>not first striking with ICBMs and following up with mecha infantry

Nothin personel kid

>parry the first thrust
>Hook your arm around the haft and commence stabbing the fuck out of the wielder
Polearms are for formation fighting, that's it. They're very effective, but not necessarily the best. Once you force a heavy infantry formation into a square, you've scored a mobility kill.

Because rapier trumps smallsword. Smallswords only exist because they're more convenient to carry day-to-day than rapiers.

How powerful was the chinese crossbows? was equivalent to a european medieval crossbow?

Someone already did the calculations, so no need for me to go over again.

>Heaviest standard 8 stone Han crossbow power = 516 lbs draw weight * ~19 inches powerstroke/2 = 4902 inch lbs
>Heaviest Medieval crossbow found from Gallway = 1200 lbs draw weight * 7 inches powerstroke/2 = 4200 inch lbs
>Typical 6 stone strength Han crossbow's power = 387 lbs draw weight * ~19 inches powerstroke/2 = 3676.5 inch pounds
>Heavy Song dynasty bow made to pierce armor = 160 lbs draw weight * ~20 inches powerstroke/2 = 1600 inch pounds

The standard infantry Han crossbows were powerful enough to be close to the heaviest of the medieval crossbows.

>Heaviest longbow ever found, within Mary Rose = 180 lbs draw weight * ~20 inches powerstroke/2 = 1800 inch pounds
>English heaviest battlefield use longbow power = 150 lbs draw weight * ~20 inches powerstroke/2 = 1500 inch pounds

only if you have plate armor to go with it

>parrys the first
>guy twists around his demi hache and hits you with the queue.

Pole axes are also duel weapons. Attested in the Talhoffer's manuscripts.

>People posting weapons from wildly different eras and places
Fuck it let's just start posting machine guns and artillery

absolutely true the existence of Switzerland proves it.

It's missing the best part
