Nope, the Peninsular War was irrelevant
It's Russia that fucked everything up

The french were the pitbull of europe at that time

Didn't the Peninsular War trigger Russia violating the continental system?

t. brainlet

Um, Spain would gave helped France.

Nope, Tsar Alexander's autism did
He woke up a monarning and suddenly decided Napoleon was the antichrist

Was it the Battle of Berlin of its time?

Tell me more about it

>russians zerg rush in the enemy capital and seize it after taking huge casualties

Pretty similar to Berlin in WW2
Difference is they didnt sack the city or rape women because the Tsar wanted Russia to be seen as a civilized country

Only Brits raped civilians in the Napoleonic Wars (Badajoz, Cuidad Rodrigo...etc)

>Only Brits raped civilians in the Napoleonic Wars (Badajoz, Cuidad Rodrigo...etc)
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Lübeck
>Having stormed the city, the French troops thoroughly plundered Lübeck amid crimes of "pillage, rape, and murder". Bernadotte and other superior officers tried to restrain their men, but the French soldiers ran completely amok. That the troops were guilty of atrocities was admitted by contemporary writers such as Antoine-Henri Jomini and Guillaume Mathieu, comte Dumas. Historian Francis Loraine Petre noted that Blücher's decision to fight a pitched battle in a neutral city made him at least partly culpable for the sack of Lübeck.
Do your research you fucking faggot

You are so wrong. Napoleon lost the war with the Peninsula War. But had he won it, or not started it, it was unwinnable after Trafalgar.

The Germans don't have civilians, since they are all armed with hatred of France.
Hence no war crime.

ps: don't deny yours

>the continental system would not have brought England to bankruptcy and France would not have built an even larger fleet with all of Europe subjugated.

Keep dreaming William

>Proved wrong
>Reply with typical /int/-tier answer
I think I'll leave it there

What would have kept any country 1 country away from France to refuse the embargo again ?

Studies showed that the ability to detect sarcasm is a trait strongly correlated with intelligence. protip: this sentence was not.
protip2: I'm not

Idk, the most powerful country in the world? the continuous threat of being deposed by a liberal revolution if you attack and lose?

Can't you fucking read?
This shit was Blucher's fault

>Be Free City of Lübeck, a thriving independent city-state
>Faggot Blücher illegally come have his last stand here after his country got conquered in 19 days
>He fails once against like the retard he is and the city is sacked by French barbarians

Not really, the Peninsular war bled the French army for sure, but Russia was the one who broke the back of the Empire.

Napoleon achieving total domination of the continent would be impossible in any long term sense, if he wanted to keep his empire, he almost certainly had to let Russia leave the continental system instead of engaging them in war, or at the very least, limit military operations against Russia to blockading St. Petersburg to prevent trade between Britain and Russia, and take a defensive posture in the land war and let the Russian army come to Europe as opposed to driving into Russia.

Either way, Napoleon had little chance of achieving total control of Europe or anything more than a generation, but the Empire could have survived with a less drastic response to Russia's defiance to the Continental System, and had to concede that Great Britain would still be independent of French influence no matter what.

>he trusted a Prussian

>"The continental system is really fucking with my Empires Econemy"
>"I know, I'll have Moskva be burned down and scorched earth a bunch of our western countryside fighting Napoleon."

He didnt give a shit about the economy
The reason he started to defu Napoleon again in 1812 is because he has suddenly decided Napoleon was the antichrist (which also explains his resolve to burn his own country rather than agree to a trade deal with Napoleon)
This man was unironically insane

when you join brits with the portugese, you know the result for the enemies don´t you? it was usually a defeat.

Really makes you think

In the end portugese and english won. They never lost any war together. And in those napolean invasions they were the only countries (also ireland) in the west that weren't controlled by france

>They never lost any war together

Basically this.

Except that it wasn't the economy what triggered Russia. Trade with Britain was insignificant for Russia, and it could have been easily blockaded by the French/Danes in the Oresund.

There was a very significant amount of french troops pinned down in Spain but it's highly hypothetical those troops would have made a difference in the Russian campaign. Submitting Austria and adopting a defensive position against Russia might have worked though.

British and portuguese alliance was much older than that.

Portugal won what they had to won in that war, they defeated the spanish and keep their country integraty. Portugal didn´t participated in any 100's war battle that wasn´t in the iberian peninsula.

>doesn't count!

>There was a very significant amount of french troops pinned down in Spain but it's highly hypothetical those troops would have made a difference in the Russian campaign.

There were like what, 80,000 troops in Spain in 1812?
Would just have made 80,000 more men starved too death in the Russian winter desu

Different guy, a better argument to make is they'd have been quite useful in some defense of france proper after Napoleons forces in Russia had bought the farm. They'd lose an empire, but retain an emperor.

indeed, portugal expelled the french and won.
Brits beated the french and won, once again.

Why did the French and English become so autistic over their Kings names like that?

In the peninsular war, spain also changed sides and helped portugal and britain in the end.

>Spanish Succession
>Anglo-Portuguese victory

Except to noble the opposite side supported became the King of Spain (you know, that was the whole point of the war)

>Portugal and Britain dont any war together because the wars where they lose dont count!

Yes, but there were twice that number in 1810. Following with my argument those troops could have been very useful in an Austrian campaign.

>Portugal participates in the Western Front
>Have the misfortune to come under the attack of a huge German offensive, which wipes them out
>Literally if any division in the world was there it would have been destroyed
>British units do no better against Germans
>British blame the collapse of the front and the defeat on the Portuguese, because they're decadent and incompetent, to hide their own failures
>at the peace conference Portugal is screwed over, and doesn't get any reparations and only a tiny amount of territory, thanks to Britain
wow some ally

> only 80k

Senpai there was double that

By 1812 they were retreating and pulling out troops to deal with the fuck up in Russia so that figure might be legit.

The peak was in 1809 with +200k pinned down in Spain, a formidable number that could have been used better in the eastern fronts.

But by 1812 it was too late for Napo anyway.

>Be Napoleon in charge of the greatest European military force up to that time.
>Unironically fail at genociding spaniards and portugese

Was he even trying?

>Was he even trying?

Obviously not since his troops were breeding new spaniards with local women

You are talking about La lys battle? portuguese lost many soldiers but it was a tactical victory for them.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Lys_(1918)

germans also lost against the portuguese in the colonial front (wwi)

>be Napolepoop trooper in Madrid
>start molesting a local 18 yo girl (which btw was half french)
>she tells the syphilitic gabachos to kys and defends herself with scissors.
>get arrested and executed by the syphilitics
>'FREEEEEDOOOM!'
>general uprising in Madrid
>general uprising in all Spain next day
>syphilitics btfo in the battle of Bailen
>Napolepoop Empire destroyed in 6 years by Spain
>lie in bed in some far away island in the Atlantic, terminally ill
>'your lineage will die with you, Napolepoop' t. Manuela in your dreams.
>grhhghg atchst grsg attchchs (dies in enormous pain)

Literally Braveheart script turned real.

>mfw Spaniards think it was them and not Russia that destroyed Napoleon

What makes the Anglos so good at long term strategy? They lose battles and allies but always seem to come out ahead at the end
Why had no one turned the tables on them?

>They never lost any war together.

>they defeated the spanish and keep their country integraty.
That literally didn't happen. Portugal tried to invade Castille 3 times after the Castillian civil war and they failed all the 3 times while losing their fleet

>What makes the Anglos so good at long term strategy?

The Russian winter
That's how Britain won the Napoleonic Wars and WW2

When their plans go to shit they just put their fleet in their shores and bribe someone else to fight their wars. They were shit but they just had a sea to protect them when shit turned south

But the empire literally existed to blockade Britain. Napoleon didn't want to conquer the world, he wanted brits to behave.

>That literally didn't happen. Portugal tried to invade Castille 3 times after the Castillian civil war and they failed all the 3 times while losing their fleet

This is some kind of delusion? are you changing the roles? it was always Spain that tried to invade Portugal, and failed always.... and portuguese were usually in 5-1 disadvantage. Portugal invaded Spain in 1706 and took control of, Salamanca and Madrid with and alliance with britain

Of course we dont think that, we do think that we contributed thi

>The French captured a small Swedish force during the battle. Bernadotte's respectful treatment of its officers and soldiers led to that Scandinavian nation offering its crown to the French marshal, almost four years after this battle.

>Don't be a subhuman
>Become king

>best friends
>your best friend points a gun at you because he wants your meal

Thar's not exactly that
It's true that it's Britain that triggered the existence of Napoleon's Empire, but he didnt conquer countries "to blockade Britain"

He conquered countries in self-defense against British funded wars of aggression against France, and then he used said conquest to instigate a Continental blockade in response to the British blockade of French coasts

But the main goal of French territorial expension was to avoid defeated enemies could just recover and launch another war against France when Britain pay them for that again

This makes his point even stronger, retard. Portuguese-british friendship is a farce.

How the fck the portugese were so strong? they are a small country.

No, he wasn't. His brother was unironically the best monarch Spain had in the whole century. And Bourbons are french too anyways.

Shit was pretty much real life Novigrad

But then the French and the Prussians chimped out, ruining everything for everyone as usual....

They're literally playing easy mode. The channel is basically the closest you got irl to savescuming.

Portugal tried and failed several times to conquer Castille. It wasn't one sided.

I hate frogs and krauts so goddamn much
Endlessly taking turns to destroy everything good on this continent and beyond

Well, the first condition was impossible to achieve by swedes.

Portugal was never imperialistic in iberian peninsula terms, never. It was Spain that usually invaded Portugal. Tha's even pathetic to debate....

Portugal shamelessly invaded Spain between 1812 and 1814
Pay reparations!

No pal, France invaded Portugal allied with Spain, and AFTER thta, they got their ass kicked back.
Portugal never invaded Spain, without having been attacked first, never.

>the continental system didn't hit the French economy harder
>the continental system didn't fail to stop countries and companies from covertly trading with Britain and smuggling British goods into Europe

>Shit was pretty much real life Novigrad
That was Gdansk

You mean Danzig?

>Portugal was never imperialistic in iberian peninsula terms
Portugal started 4 wars against Castile. They lost every single one of them mind you.Portuguese just never learn in school about it

Didn´t know Napoleon was Spaniard.

>Portugal started 4 wars against Castile

LMAO So show me those sources, where Portugal started 4 wars against Castille. it would be fun.... If there's a country in the world that spain usually loses war's it's against portugal and you know it.

Hos height should have been enough of a clue

The 3 Fernandine wars + the luso -Castillian war of 1336. Portugal lost all the time to Castile. They just don't teach Portuguese kids about it as it is their national pride to not be Spain

m8, the portgese fought agaisnt spain in absolute minority and they beat you so many times

ETERNAL

I am not even a Spaniard btw. You are pulling battles from a single war in which btw the Portuguese made up numbers as propaganda. I literally told you 4 wars in which Portugal tried to invade Castile and failed hard and you came back with a soreceless comeback as if this was a dick measuring conquest. Just stop embarassing yourself and just admit that you were totally wrong and you know nothing about the subject

Just read your arguments back and forth and I must say I love you

>3000 vs 20000
how the hell?

we dindu nuffin lmao

By being better

Calm down, Nigel

>Alejandro O'Reilly
delicious

yeah it's not England that broke the peace by attacking France in 1802 :^)

Britain was on the verge of economic collapse in 1812. The continental system hurt france but it hurt the british far more. Many of Napoleon's conquests were based around this such as ending smuggling in the hanseatic cities and the illyrian provinces.

It's an objective fact that the continental system was a fucking blunder you idiot, nobody listened to Napoleon's REEEEEEEs and it was a waste of time.

>Russians zerg rushing
>similar to WW2
But it were Germans who did zerg rush.

This post is mostly false and probably the work of a disgruntled Frenchman
