>BLAM
*pick axes you to death for wasting bullets on prisoners*

>owning a pick axe
>not digging with your hands
the secret police would like a word with you

of course
you dig with hands so pick axes are in good condition to dispatch enemies of the revolution. Say... are you sure you're not Vietnamese?

i dunno.... say do you hear an f-4 phantom?

>kills people wearing glasses because he thinks they're smart
>Not smart enough to take their glasses off when they see him coming

Was it autism?

I don't need glasses. I have super power becuase I am a Romanian Super Proletarian.

>tfw peasant who works hard everyday from dawn till dusk
>tfw i lotion my hands

please no Uncle Pol

no, it was communism

>oh so you don't need glasses huh? here, read this text
>can't read it huh? well too bad for you :DDD
not that hard, even if they tried it they'd be fucked nonetheless

>muh western influences

Tbh I'm surprised mainland Khmers don't want to denounce the Khmer Rouge more, it seems collectively they just wanted to forget it happened

According to this, the Cambodians who remember can be described today each shouldering a peace of collective trauma that they'd rather not face, in large part, out of shame.
The younger generations will never really understand and those who experienced it don't want to remember what they've seen or needed to do to survive.

Interesting. I don't doubt it at all, I'm just concerned about the fact that because of the lack of a proper dialogue and education about these events. Mainland Khmers are content getting cucked by the CPP, which has higher ups who seem to have ties with the Khmer Rouge.

Diaspora Khmers seem to be a lot saltier about it, but that might be due to exposure to western cultures, which seem to encourage openness about these topics. Also diasporas being diasporas.

T. Second gen diaspora khmer

>but that might be due to exposure to western cultures
If they're anything like the Cuban or Hmong diaspora, they're (you're) the ones threatened with the most direct threat of persecution and your parents and grandparents, more than the west made, sure you were aware of what the regimes they escaped were like. Diasporas being diasporas indeed.

The book doesn't use the word trauma in passing. Many middle-aged/older Cambodians are actually coping with PTSD. The book's coverage ends in the 90s and I don't know much about modern Cambodia, but I'm pretty sure its one of the most corrupt nations in the world and the government suppresses journalists. Starting a conversation about the past, which will probably invite drawing parallels between the modern Cambodian gov't and the bad old days, sounds like a recipe for crackdowns.

>sounds like a recipe for crackdowns.

Indeed. However, those already seem to be in order with the growing popularity of the opposition CNRP party. They've made a surprising amount of success (which still isn't too much), and because of that the government is getting pretty edgy around election seasons.

daily reminder pol pot got handjobs from royal concubines in his early teens.

Wow, those are really words to live by.

But if you could read then you were also too smart

>I can't read comrade, nobody reads in the countryside

>hand lotion
Western capitalist degeneracy

Well, (1st gen) diasporas were often the ones with more reasons to be saltier even back in the homeland. I've never seen any diaspora defending his government. Young people studying abroad yeah but those aren't really immigrants.

source?

It seems that in my family/area, these people were put directly into the system like everyone else instead of being a privileged class that fled as soon as the Khmer Rouge got into power. The difference of course being that they escaped. So I don't think they were especially targeted, or at least more so than anyone else. Upon escaping, they went through the whole dealio with shitty refugee camps in Thailand and all. I'd say it's a marked difference between political refugees from the Cuban or Iranian Islamic Revolutions.

In this case at least, I do think think that the western tendency to be open about issues like genocides has played a more shaping role in the current attitudes towards the Cambodian government than in cases with other diasporas.

t. Diaspora Khmer dude up there

...

dude it wasn't real communism lmao

...

He also killed people that could read.

Reminder that Clapistan is largely responsible for this

my uncle fought the war against these cunts, back then men would get drafted, get sent to other side of the border and most didn't come back, luckily he came back with only a few rash on his on back thanks to rolling in the mud.

As always.

There was a large and long process of trying to bring the perpetrators to justice, which is still going on, but the Khmer Rouge remained a powerful political force for a good couple decades after.

The events of the period of Khmer Rouge rule is well documented and preserved though, I would hardly say they want to forget it happened, but rather they want to focus on the future ahead. Cambodians are well aware of the past, there's constant reminders in everyday life of the Khmer Rouge, but dwelling on that shit is a luxury they can't afford at the moment.

Cambodia has a lot more problems than just the Khmer Rouge, it's a frustratingly fractured society riven with all kinds of issues that are effecting people today. When you're struggling to survive the present, you're not going to dwell on a past that most didn't even experience.

>Refers to the Santebal as the "secret police"
The "Santebal" would like to have a word with you as well.

Because former Khmer Rogue live among them. It's like finding out Uncle Hans was a Stasi or Uncle Tran was a ARVN.

That's how you get fucking Yharnam.

>mfw Vietnam, after being rekt by the US for years then went on to liberate Cambodia and fight off China

>want to get superpowers
>get aids
Literally american cartoon tier

...

Affirmative action, everyone

I was looking up Yharnam on Wikipedia thinking it was a disease and I couldn't figure out why it kept redirecting me to the Bloodborne page.

Miyazaki is a pretty well read guy, you don't suppose he actually read about this before, do you?

Before the sentences were carried out, Elena reacted far more belligerently than her husband, screaming: "You motherfucking assholes!" while being led up against the wall; at the same time Nicolae Ceaușescu sang "The Internationale"
>tfw trying to die like a good socialist but your dumb peasant wife won't shut up

>implying the Khmer Rouge did anything wrong
>believing the killing fields happened

they were commies, they started doing things wrong when they first started breathing

>went to Paris for college
>"intellectuals should die"

bro how did he square this

I don't see why the glasses thing is such a big deal. In fact, having no one wearing glasses is a GOOD thing. It's only in capitalism that people need glasses to work. Under communism, glasses are not needed

...

...

BRACE YOURSELF, MY FRIEND

Was he the worst of the commie big wigs? Stalin had an uncontested killstreak but polpot always came off as a massive retard that only gained traction through sheer cruelty.

Proportionally, he'd be the worst commie. He killed twice as many in almost a tenth of the time.

Mao was actually capitalist, too bad for you

well you know what they say

pol is always right

>birth name: Saloth Sar
what the fuck? That sounds much better than fucking Pol Pot. Why would he change it?

It sounds like some fucking Star Wars villain

pol pot = politique potentielle

he's trying to sound fancy

Sounds like intellectual talk to me.

Why bother with a bad shop when there are real pics of him wearing glasses

Thats a cool ass name baka
Then he named himself after a Trump fellating board

Commies had a thing for changing their names, eg. Lenin, Stalin, Ho Chi Minh, Tito, Trotsky.

>his fucking trigger finger
Every time

Probably to distance themselves from their bourgeois upbringing

>what is a nom de guerre

More like non de branleur

Along with the other reasons, he probably could've done it to discard any association with his previous life and "fully commit to the cause." Black nationalists do this a lot and give themselves arab names.

So how did Vietnam manage to beat the Khmer Rouge without getting stuck in the same jungle quagmire the United States dealt with for years?

I knew he would betray the revolution.

A battle hardened populace, a land border, a starving enemy population, Khambodians attacked first and Pol Pot said he wanted to exterminate all 50 million Vietnamese. So they obviously had a highly motivated civilian population, unlike the US. Nor did it seek to impose some abstract concept like "freedom".

First they were suited to the terrain. Second, they didn’t hold back like the US did.

>oh so you don't need glasses huh? here, read this text
>can't read it huh? you're a good socialist then, only bouregois can read

LOL. Ford looks so peripheral. Photo makes it seem like Kissinger actually ran the country.

It's quite surreal how similar the two photos are too.

All the criminals needs to have a pseudonym.

...

DELET THIS

It actually pisses me off that so many who participated in the Khmer Rouge at a middle-high level got to mostly live full lives hiding out in the jungle. And those who were well known enough and actually caught just got life sentences at most. It's not justice. They fucked an entire generation. They all deserved horrible, prolonged deaths.

He got redpilled about college

Over a quarter of the Cambodian population living under his regime died.

Going to college has made me want to kill all the "intellectuals" aswell desu

Me too

If you went to college and don't think academians should be killed then you are a mindless drone
