S.T.A.L.K.E.R. isn't mainstream enough to regular appear in the Youtube comment section.

>Talk about nuclear power
>every fucking detractor mentions Chernobyl as if were going to build archaic soviet plants

What do you expect of YouTube comments?

Or three mile island, or nine mile island (if you're in the US).

Why are liberals hold such vulgar opinions on the idea of nuclear power?

Three Mile Island was actually the ultimate proof that nuclear power is safe, because it proved that a modern reactor could have a meltdown without breaching containment, meaning no release of radiation. The actual reactor just sits there uselessly now, but nobody got hurt at all.

Everyone in the area got the equivalent of an x-ray but they were screaming bloody murder. Why is radiation so hard for normies to understand?

Blame eco-hippies throwing a shitfit about anything related to the nuclear energy and their constant propaganda which paints every nuclear reactor as an unholy love child between Chernobyl and Hiroshima just waiting to happen. Fucking cunts.

I personally blame Godzilla movies as much as I love the big bastard

>reading YouTube comments
You deserve everything you get tbqh

...

i know this is bait but i'm still mad

Not to mention the Fukushima happenings, which dropped the IQ of Germans by 50% among other nations

>clicked on any Chernobyl related unironically not expecting the comments to be filled with GET OUT OF HERE STALKER and COD4 memes older than most of the people typing them

You might as well be opening any thread using Anne Frank's picture expecting it not to be full of /mu/tants quoting NMH lyrics and pregnancy fetishists all fantasizing about having a full-term Anne rub their dicks with her watermelon sized belly

>Haha dude is was only just a little bit of X-ray.

Radiation is the most terrifying, insidious killer there is. Chernobyl and Fukushima have poisoned vast areas of land and sea, rendering them inhabitable for humans for centuries. Nuclear power should be outlawed.

>Chernobyl and Fukushima have poisoned vast areas of land and sea, rendering them inhabitable for humans for centuries.

what?

>Any WW1 video

>those people who were called bio-robots to clean up the place

Chernobyl is easily the most depressing disaster since the world wars. So much fucking suffering: the biorobots and army reserves told to clean up the plant in the immediate aftermath, the tunnellers who helped seal the base of the reactor, the people of Chernobyl who died and were riddled with cancers, and the people of Belarus who are still affected by the disaster.

>anything related to Russian history
>CHEEKI BREEKI
>SUKA BLYAD DAVAI DAVAI VODKA
>SLAVS LOL SQUATTING
or alternatively:
>Cyrilic shitstorm with Russians and Ukrainians going back and forth calling each other Mongols and Turks

>yfw retarded squatting slavs ruined it for everyone
the person in charge of the facility had only completed a correspondence course in nuclear engineering, but got the job due to party politics

Fuck this cunt, people like her get mad at the retards on the right who think global warming isn't real and then turn around and ignore scientists because of their own dumbass fears

> a global warming believer
> on Veeky Forums

Try to look up Turkic folk music

Nothing but rabid Turkish nationalists getting teased by actual central asians

the actual three mile island just sits there uselessly now, nobody will ever use it. goes for every piece of land where nuclear incidents occurred.
safe as snuggles.

youtube.com/watch?v=Br2tDCqaVWw

This is terrifying.

>the actual three mile island just sits there uselessly now

That's not entirely true. 1 of the reactors is permanently turned off, but the other reactor works fine. Take a look at this. Notice how there is no steam coming out of the 2 stacks to the right? That's because those stacks are connected to the dead reactor. The other 2 stakes are connected to the other reactor, and they still produce a lot of power.

Can't they dismantle/repair the reactor?

...

not him, but id imagine itd be cheaper and easier to just keep it there rather than digging that shit up. they do it for most power plants.
>sell all the spare machinery parts
>let the workers take home all the welders, lathes, tools, and shit like that
>moth ball the rest
>maybe, maybe, you might get some company like GE come in and pay to see what happens when they go over the limits on all the heavy machinery and blow shit up
>if not it just sits there and mothballs. until one day the govt pays to clean it up.

but yea if its radiation and shit down there they wont be moving it as long as its safe down there, moving it will create a hazard and cost money. no point in doing that if there is no need to.

>Nuclear power.
>Good.

Tell that to the Belorussians.

Cyкaaaaaa хaхaхaхaхa

1. Chernobyl is in Ukraine you fuckwit.

2. Nuclear power causes the fewest deaths per terwatt hour.

The company in charge of TMI recently announced that they were going to permanently shut down the entire facility. The reason given is that natural gas has become so cheap that nuclear power simply can't compete, and so they're shutting everything down by 2019.

There hasnt been any reactors built in the US since the 70s. Except in Georgia where they will be expanding Plant Vogtle

>1. Chernobyl is in Ukraine you fuckwit.
Jesus christ why are you even on Veeky Forums

There's a huge semi-solid mass of red hot concrete-like core material in the bottom of the containment vessel. How do you get that out of there without killing anyone?

lmgtfy.com/?q=where is Chernobyl

t. retard

inb4 "I totally meant the border of Belarus"

He's making a joke that Ukraine does not exist as a country, you fucking tard

No he's making a reference to the fact that the vast majority of the contamination from Chernobyl fell north onto Belarus. Outside of the Exclusion Zone, Belarus got hit far worse than anyone else from the disaster.

>"he's not really retarded"
Both of you should kill yourselves. You both aren't only wrong, but belligerently, maliciously wrong.

The fucking state of Veeky Forums. It's even in the fucking wiki, retards.

I know, some people here aren't mentally handicapped. It's weird right?

Annual reminder that literally nobody with a triple digit IQ opposes nuclear power.

Fucking either this or Fukushima, and it's not just detractors either. Can't talk about abandoned cities or /x/ related shit without Chernobyl popping up.

You'd think about all the pressure it gets for being associated with nuclear weapons, they'd be the ones making the most sure they're the safest.

Something like 25% of Belarus is uninhabitable from the Chernobyl disaster idiot. Most of the radioactive fallout blew north into the country. 10s of thousands of kids in Belarus have died from leukaemias, thyroid cancers, lymphomas and other cancers from it. Hundreds of thousands are still living in infected zones and suffer health problems from living in and eating contaminated foods.

ANUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Now that the dust has settled, is Nuclear power the way of the future? Is it sustainable and cheap enough?

>Sustainable

It's not renewable because it requires uranium.

>cheap enough

Natural gas is much cheaper and the regulations on nuclear energy are super-intense which makes it more expensive.

>tfw I won't do it
I don't deserve this civilization, those guys were heroes.

>0 sources

I suppose you'd look pretty stupid if you linked us to www.bannuclear.com or wherever your bullshit grows

France has proved that nuclear is an effective way to run a 1st world economy with low CO2 emissions.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_power_in_France

"As of 2012, France's electricity price to household customers is the seventh-cheapest amongst the 28 members of the European Union, and also the seventh-cheapest to industrial consumers, with a rate of €0.14 per kWh to households and €0.07 per kWh to industrial consumers.[8] France was the biggest electricity exporter in the EU in 2012, exporting 45TWh of electricity to its neighbours.[9] With very inclement weather, when demand exceeds supply, France infrequently becomes a net-importer of electricity in these rare cases, because of the lack of more flexible generating plants.[10][11]
France's nuclear power industry has been called "a success story" that has put the nation "ahead of the world" in terms of providing cheap energy with low CO2 emissions.[12]"

How do you die from solar energy?

Light reflection, and you can't recycling it.

Mining byproducts. To be fair, if China actually implemented environmental laws, that number would probably plummet.

>associated with nuclear weapons
Are Clapistanians really this retarded? Have they never taken a seventh grade science class?

Hey, it was the Kiwis who didn't want nuclear aircraft carriers to come near their island because they were worried that it would explode or something.

Nuclear has zero CO2 emissions, but it produces radioactive waste and it isn't sustainable long-term because it requires uranium. There is a finite amount of uranium on the planet Earth.

no, but ~200 years will buy us a lot of time

scientificamerican.com/article/how-long-will-global-uranium-deposits-last/

sad times ahead

Switch to thorium then dude.
Easy fix

Is thorium power a meme? Or are there operational thorium plants?

>listen to flight of the valkyries
>every comment is /pol/shit

There are a couple of youtube links in here. Watch them. There's like 10 good documentaries on Chernobyl on YT that covers what happened to Belarus. They are fucked. Hundreds of thousands still suffer from radiation. Its not some stupid conspiracy stupid lefty cunt nigger.

.

will do

The sad thing is Chernobyl was something that never had to happen, but they did everything in their power to ensure it was as big a fuckup as possible.

Heat stroke installing panels.

It's just the usual Soviet construction project, but with nuclear material.

>we shall build a canal through the entire country, in 20 months!
>saws? cranes? Why are you such a tempo-disrupting wrecker?
>we are building socialism!
That, but rather than flooding gates and rotting wood, the canal explodes and irradiates the area for centuries.

>building a canal without saws and cranes
Fucking what? I'm intrigued now.
