Here's a list of the most revered battles in English history
>1099: the French victory at Ascalon >1191: the French victories at Acres and Arsuf >1415: the Welsh victory at Agincourt >1588: the weather's victory in the sea >1709: the Austrian victory at Malplaquet >1815: the German victory at Waterloo >1916: the German victory at the Somme >1944: the American victory in Normandy

Henry Harris
These 10% (the longbowmen) did most of the job tho
Brody Carter

Samuel Miller
>he thinks that the archers did anything but harass the French flanks before joining in the melee >he thinks all the Welsh were archers and all the English were men at arms

Wrong, it was the Poles And they even took time to crack the Engma code between two German aircrafts shot down
Isaiah Smith
I think the aim of this thread is rather to remind that, although England has won some battles, it was always thank to a strong ally that contributed more
Tyler Brooks
>he thinks the Enigma broken by the Poles in 1932 I'd the same Enigma broken by the British in the Second World War

What did the /int/scum mean by this?
Owen King
>1588: the weather's victory in the sea about that.
the spanish armada was hit by the storms that wrecked it while it was retreating.
it was beaten, and heading for home and got wrecked while running.
>1815: the German victory at Waterloo british army did most of the fighting at Waterloo, exhausted the french army and broke its resistance, by the time the prussians arrived the french were pretty much done for the day, the british army was in marginally better condition. had the prussians not turned up one of the sides most likely the french would have tried to slip away under cover of night.
>1944: the American victory in Normandy yeah about that, the american breakthrough came only because the british had tied down and smashed up the vast majority of the german forces in france
>1709: the Austrian victory at Malplaquet you missed the british victories of blenheim and ramillies.
>Missing any? Minden? Trafalgar? Salamanca? Crecy, poiters? Plains of Abraham?
