I have an essay to right about the treaty of Versailles, what are some interesting facts I should mention and what are some good thesis statements?

For centuries, most peace treaties sought to obliterate the memory of war, a practice stretching back to the 1648 Treaty of Westphalia, which called for “perpetua oblivio et amnestia”, or “perpetual oblivion and amnesty” on both sides. It was only after the 1919 Treaty of Versailles assigned guilt to Germany for igniting the first world war, and demanded the arrest and trial of German officials, that the promise of oblivio et amnestia was abandoned.

Kaplan's rules on the balance of power mentioned that a nation state should will never utterly destroy an enemy for various reasons. The treaty of versailles completely did away with that, putting an unbearable economic load on the germans that would facilitate the rise of adolf hitler. In essence, World War II was almost entirely a consequence of the treaty of versailles, along with the guilt of the many lives lost during the ethnic cleansings committed by the germans.

Mention that it wasn't harsh enough

How so?

tell Mr. Hanson he's a faggot

Wrong class man

It should have called for the complete dissolution of the German state and it's partition into smaller more manageable states

Interesting fact number #1
The three major powers involved in deciding the fate of Germany had radically different views on how the treaty should look like. The Americans were understandably the most lenient, demanding independce for Poland, and dismanteling of German overseas colonies, along with the return of alsace lorraine to France. That's the most important stuff, but see Woodrow Wilsons fourteen points for more details.
Britain held the middle ground between the French and American positions, wishing to avoid another war and allow germany to become a viable trade partner once again, but also seeking 'Justice' along with expanding her empire and eliminating the threat germany posed. Britain's demand included the previously mentioned American demands, along with war reparations from Germany, a severe reduction of the size of the german navy, the dismantlement of all submarines and the German airforce. The german colonies were to be transferred to the allies, with most the African colonies going to Britain.
France, being the most damaged by the war, made the most extreme demands. apart from the afformentioned British demands, France also demanded the demilitarization of the Rhineland, and permanent trade restrictions upon Germany, and the hanging of the Kaiser.
The resulting treaty failed in both preventing a revanchist Germany, which was the Britain and The US. And failed to make Germany to weak to rise again, which France would have wanted. You can talk about how the insuing political instability in the weimar republic, coupled with revanchism, eventually lead to the rise of Hitler, catalysed by the great depression.
Italy should also be mentioned, since Italy's dissapointment with the concessions it got was a major factor in the rise of Mussolini, despite the fact Italy was one of the victors.

Fuck off Jew.

>essay to right
Good luck brah, regardless of the subject matter.

Kikes loved the g*rman empire, though.

The French were so petty during the treaty, they made the Germans give up the patent rights to aspirin, as if that somehow improved Germany's ability to wage war.

Was it all a plot by la Marsaiiles perfidie?

Is that why they launched the Spartacist uprising?

Spartacists rose up against the illegitimate socialist government in an attempt to restore power to beloved-by-all Prussian Junkers and reinstate the Kaiser. Them being "communist" is just another disgusting lie propagated by the eternal anglo.
They were true patriots of the Kaiserreich.

>commies were the true patriots

Go back to whatever shithole you crawled out from

Germany should have been partitioned into an independent Bavaria, Saxony, Wurtemburg, Baden, Hanover, Mecklenburg, Prussia and Alsace-Lorraine returned to the French

Just compare it to Post-WW2 peace

After WW2, Germany was
-divided in two
-occupied forever (still is to this day)
-had all its generals arrested

Meanwhile, after WW1 they were allowed to remain united and just had a tiny region iccupied for 10 years

Tell that ot wasnt very harsh

And don't forget to mention that the economical problems in Germany in the late 20s was unrelated to Versailles but rather caused by an US spawned global economical crisis
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Depression#Effects

Poland should border France at the Elbe

>France has a right to exist
Nope.

>occupied forever (still is to this day)
now it's more like the US is heavily subsidizing germany's defense rather than "occupying".

This desu senpai

>america
>major power in WW1

lol

Not really

Damn, those 20,000 guys must be old as shit if they've been in Germany since 1945

>Spartacists
>commies
lmao
keep gobbling up that anglo propaganda, tardboi

>ocupation troops can't be rotated

Are you literally retarded?

It was a joke.
Am I being reverse baited?

An interesting question that you could ask in your essay is "what would the Treaty have looked like if Russia had been given a say"? Russia was probably the country which suffered most in WW1, but they were excluded from the Versailles because their government had collapsed, and they were embroiled in a devastating civil war. If Russia had been included in the peace process, I think it is safe to assume that Germany would have been forced to give up a lot more territory at the end of the war.

Germany purposefully made their currency worthless to piss off the french. Art the advice of an English economist if i remember correctly
