They aren't. Consanguinity ruins high in Kurds, particularly those from Turkey and Iraq. On top of that reports of female genital mutilation are well known. And like others have said, they were also the people used by the Turks to help ethnically cleanse parts of Turkey, Armenia, and Syria/Iraq of Armenians and Assyrians.

Erdogan is an old family friend to the Barzani family, which is the leading party in Iraqi Kurdistan.
Iraqi kurds are different, capitalist and western, while turkey kurds are more socialist-communist, also, they speak a different kind of kurdish language, so having big claims to the Turkish kurd parts are really unlikely. Also, let's not forget the most important fact: Turkey is a NATO country, and one of the most important, so they will do as the US pleases.
Erdogan is against Iraqi Kurdistan in rhetoric, but I can see that its all just acting to not lose the support of his people.
