Country gets occupied by superior force

>country gets occupied by superior force
>millions of french soldiers taken prisoner and sent to germany
>rather than fight a hopeless and destructive war against the occupier you cooperate where necessary in order to maintain as much independence as possible

No but seriously what did Vichy France ever do to deserve so many people being executed and imprisoned without trial after the war? How come there has never been any apology for summary executions?

Do you understand what the Milice was?

>milice did bad things
>this makes it okay for us to do bad things as well

I just find it strange you'd condemn the allies for summary executions while pretending the Vichy French milice (headed by the prime minister) didn't deserve what they got

The french are prideful and thus were immensly buttblasted by their 2 week trashing.

>No but seriously what did Vichy France ever do to deserve so many people being executed and imprisoned without trial after the war?

Being fascist cocksuckers who did basically everything they could to help G*rmany enslave France and her people forever seems like plenty enough reason for me for them to be executed in masses.

>How come there has never been any apology for summary executions?

Because the only wrong thing that Resistance and Free France did was that they didn't kill more of them.

can you show me proof that a lot of colaborator were killed at the end of ww2 . I do not think it was really important .

>2 week
Damn, it shortens drastically each time. Soon, the Battle of France will be reduced to a simple skirmish.

Milicians actively and directly participated in the collaboration. Regular soldiers of the SS Charlemagne fought an ally, the russian. Most of them animated by an anti-communism motivation though. Nevertheless, these are high treason crimes and the punishment incurred is the death penalty.
However the sentiment that France basically had missed "her war" leaded some people to expel their resentment over being occupied for 4 years by quickly getting rid of their treacherous citizens and cleaning the darkest stain on her history.
They should have been tried and publicly guillotined imo. But you cannot stop an angry mob from getting revenge from those who were on the occupant side, regarding the occurence of this major event, namely the Liberation

>SS Charlemagne
They were not related to Vichy, and in a sense were less guilty of treason. They deserved death penalty for other reasons.

Charlemagne is descended from the SS Sturmbrigade Frankreich which was recruited in Vichy France

But not BY Vichy.

No collaborationist government in the entire Nazi-controlled Europe went as deep in collaborationism than Vichy France. And I'm saying that a highly patriotic Frenchman.

>country gets its ass handed to it on a silver platter
>surrenders
>neutral occupation government in place, its job description is basicaly to run the country, give the occupier what it needs to maintain the occupation
>delivers non-combattant nationals to the ennemy for internment or forced labour without the occupier even requesting it, mere months after the fall of the country
>aligns its ideology on the occupier's in no time
>engages talks to actively re-enter the war as a Nazi ally
>actively helps the occupiers economic war effort, once again beyond said occupier's demands or expectations
>creates volunteer units to fight for the occupier on foreign soil

When Admiral Darlan met with Hitler to propose the "Vichy France joins the war on the Axis side" deal, he acted like a fucking japanese schoolgirl rubbing off her uppercalssman's arm while the latter tries to pull away. German diplomatic mail describes Darlan and other Vichy officials as cringe-worthy pushovers and bootlickers.

Sure, Vichy had people like Weygand and Juin who just thought the country had lost badly and didn't want anything to do with collaboration, even planning to get back into the fray once the country had rebuilt. But the big shots couldn't get enough of Kraut cock. Good riddance.

>less guilty of treason
Why?
"my friend's enemy is my enemy" applies in the same way to both inland collaborators and abroad regular soldiers imo

Wasn't Le Resistance meme literally a bunch of communists?

It was literally a training exercise by the Wermacht that intimidated the French so immensely that they surrendered soon after.

When you ally with Nazis you get what's coming to you

The socialist governments failed the military by cutting their budgets so that Germany held many advantages at the start of the war.

They chose to fight abroad as soldiers for the enemy, not to directly oppress their own population as cowards. It's less dishonorable imo.

Ok i can get where you're going. Fair enough

So,Mers El Kebir was justified?

>Being fascist cocksuckers who did basically everything they could to help G*rmany enslave France and her people forever
You just describe pretty much the whole French socialist party of the time, including Mitterrand, who got to be our president for 14 years. Literally everyone and their dog knows he was heavily compromised in collaboration during the war but just chose to ignore it.
