If I have kids, I will probably try to guide them on what they read and watch. Try to show them Greek Ethics and shows that have some moral content. Maybe explain why the characters in "Friends" and series like those are not good role models.

Controlling who they are friends with, to the best of your ability probably helps. Laissez faire parenting doesn't work.

I saw “Frontier House”, “Colonial House”, “Manor House” and “1940s House” on PBS when they were originally broadcast.

Frontier House (which was the first one in the series) and Colonial House wasn’t bad but as it was produced or co-produced PBS, Leftist political correctness reared it’s ugly head.

On Frontier House, they wouldn’t let the families do any hunting or provide them with the equivalent amount of meat that a typical frontier family would have supplemented their diet with thru hunting, with the result that one family with three kids was going hungry and the mom was forced to cheat and sneak off to sell homemade jam and jellies in the nearby modern town and buy sufficient food.

This stupidity also intruded into Colonial House, where the colonialists didn’t have enough to eat and PBS’ answer was a ridiculous scene where the settlers stumbled around the woods with 10lb fiberglass children's bows to “prove” that colonialists didn’t hunt…

There was also another scene where some dude came out as gay and instead of driving him out of the colonial settlement, as would have been historically accurate, they all happily let him stay.

In Manor House, where the wife’s unmarried adult sister was living with them for a while but she wanted her boyfriend to come live with there also and the producers (not surprisingly) wouldn’t let him, as that would be completely out of character for the time period, so the sister bailed on the show.

I don't remember anything about 1940s House.

Otherwise, they’re pretty good series and I recommend them.

Part of the reason for these series is to show modern people having to deal with life in oldy timey days, so every episode has the participants complaining about missing this, that or the other thing.
