No real way it could have (unless far more nobles like Geyer would have joined). If the knights failed to crush it, more soldiers from the entire Empire would have come. Had many more knights and their professional soldiers joined, they could have possibly forced a reform that granted more religious freedoms and improved their social status, maybe even some democratic elements. That's really going into speculation, though, because there's nothing really comparable until the French revolution and because the revolutionaries never really stood a chance.
