May '68 events in Paris?

hi, Veeky Forums!
I'm writing a screenplay for a movie set in Paris during the '68 May events, and looking for some information or book recommendations, if you have any. I'm interested in the historical-social background of the events, the day-by-day breakdown of those weeks, or even in art books about it. or just write your own thoughts about the protests.
I'm gonna bump the thread with some cool art from '68 I've collected, and some specific questions.

The volatile period of civil unrest in France during May 1968 was punctuated by demonstrations and massive general strikes as well as the occupation of universities and factories across France. At the height of its fervor, it brought the entire economy of France to a virtual halt.[1] The protests reached such a point that political leaders feared civil war or revolution; the national government itself momentarily ceased to function after President Charles de Gaulle secretly left France for a few hours. The protests spurred an artistic movement, with songs, imaginative graffiti, posters, and slogans.[2][3]

“May 68” had an impact on French society that resounded for decades afterward. It is considered to this day as a cultural, social and moral turning point in the history of the country.

Sounds like a shit time. It's comforting in a way, knowing that the SJW bullshit we're seeing isn't unique to our time.

'the same problem, the same struggle'

senpai, do you honestly think I haven't read the wikipedia article yet?

>knowing that the SJW bullshit we're seeing isn't unique to our time.

interesting, isn't it?
that's actually a theme in the screenplay
in some ways I'd say they were even more extreme than today's SJWs

here's a move for you

Sorry, I like to read copy pasted Wikipedia articles in Veeky Forums threads

"Tri-continental Sorbonne: oppressed peoples united"
oppression is eternal

so, here's a question for you learned anons
what was the general atmosphere like among parisians in the weeks leading up to may 30 in '68?
were they expecting a bloody revolution or conflict, or that wasn't such a realistic possibility?
did people went on with their lives, stayed calm and kept their cool, or were constantly nervous?

"beauty is in the street"
for no discernible reason I really dig this poster

Roger Scruton has a few great essays about this. He was in Paris at the time and the whole experience made him a conservative. Mainly due to the spectacle of well-fed affluent middle class students throwing rocks at working class policemen. He really exposes how petulant and immature most protest politics is.

>everyone I don't like is Hitler
again, some things never change

Paris in 1968 had white people?

thanks, exactly what I was looking for

Further proof that socialist and communists are chimps

"Working now is working with a gun in your back"

Back when Godard tried to make actual films and not feature length shitposts. I second the recommendation.

>The heirs of May 68 have imposed the idea that everything has the same value, that there is no difference between good and bad, truth and falsehood, beauty and ugliness. … They have proclaimed that all is permitted, that authority, civility, and respect are finished, that nothing is any longer great, sacred, or admirable.

Watch Up in the Air
Great movie set in the period/place

What were they protesting for?

gibsmedats

Why didn't the French military do anything to stop them?
