We don't know for sure, all we know is that Germans and Slavs moved west.
Many Germans probably stayed behind and were assimilated or wiped out.

In regards to Ostseidlung, it wasn't ethnic cleansing like what happened in the 20th Century.
It was mainly a peaceful migration to less populated areas.
Also if you compare this map to the previous one I posted, you'll see that there wasn't major German expansion after Ostseidlung.

Also I'm not trying to imply that migration era Slavs are malevolent genociders or that Germans are enlightened saviors bringing civilization to eastern europe.
