Is it wrong that I want to see ancient buildings restored and used? I don't want these buildings to be dead. I want them to come alive.

No that's what happened in the past.

The Parthanon didn't even decay naturally. It was used as a Church and then a Mosque in the Middle ages.

It fucking exploded

...

No, you're absolutely correct, and furthermore new buildings should be made in a similar and/or derivative style. There should be a national church where the citizenry worships the ancestors, and national monuments should be dedicated to Classical Greek and Chinese figures. All public debates and educational programmes must make direct and constant reference to classical texts and history. We cannot forget our ancestors; they still exist and their wishes must be honoured.

Thing is, we don't know exactly how they looked like. So we could restore a building and get it completely wrong.

Don't we exactly know - or at the very least, have a fairly good idea of how the Parthenon was?

Yeah just like we cant still reach sardinia

I'd rather see something new built in the same classical style but even grander

absolutely disgusting

How to offend your forefathers and embrace total degeneracy: build monuments to hebrew mythology on your ancestors' sacred sites. Congratulations, Europe: you played yourself.

it actually was never converted into a mosque

you can thank the ventians for that one, the ottomans were using it as an ammo dump figuring that the venetians wouldn't turn their cannons on a church that was of such obvious historical importance

So? You think that stopped the people who had to rebuild it the last 3 or so times?

The issue is all the faggots are in charge of this stuff now, all they can think about is muh historic preservation discarding the fact that these buildings have been reconstructed countless times. Yet every developed country today is losing it's integrity due to m*dernist """"""architecture"""""" and overpopulation. Pic related is what Ioannis Metaxas did during his time in office. Ordered the painting of houses in the Cyclades in white and blue in 1937. This modern project=max traditional aesthetic. Ofcourse we will never see such an innovation again.

Do you mean like this?

Spain needs to be nuked.

Depends how. Does anyone have that /pol/ post showing how in Eastern Germany they took a palace from the times of Monarchy and then rebuilt it with brutalist architecture?
And then, after the Cold War when they tried to bring the palace back to good architecture they could only rebuild half of it, since the commies wanted to keep the brutalist look?

Restored well, not by retards. Restore it how it actually looked.

>tfw never to get to see the hanging garden in it's full glory

>it actually was never converted into a mosque

Rebuilt, not re-imagined. With an effort to restore it to its original glory. Restore the past, not destroy it.

>fully intact parthenon

THIS. However, we should focus more on our own ancestors rather than others'. Most modern """""""architecture""""""" looks retarded, and we should celebrate our past rather than replacing it with absolute shit.

>Most modern """""""architecture""""""" looks retarded,

There's a reason for this. Having the same art, the same styles, produces boredom. People want to then do something new, and exciting. Now we're at the point that people are both annoyed and bored of new modern architecture, and long for the older more familliar European styles.

The pic you posted is absolute autism

I find it ironic that people wanted to get away from the old, and yet modern """""""architecture""""""" always looks generic and vapid, no matter where it is located in the world, and no matter how uniquely it is designed. Progressivism is a load of shit, at least this form of it is.

>le wrong generation XXDDD
kek all those architects who studied and trained their whole lives are all wrong and stupid dummy heads, the basement-dwelling sperg on a nepalese knot-tying website is who truly sees the light

Fucking lol.

All those architects studied regulations and rupes of modern architecture as well, in the end, bigger projects come down to creativity. Once you have empty minds constructing the same generic shit that hardly has any creative value, you begin to criticize nodern architecture for it's shortcomings and lack of utilization of it's ability.

The Parthenon is alive in it's own way. Restoring it would destroy our ability to imagine what isn't there anymore.

It's a corpse put on display. That's not alive. It's a zombie.

so are we ready for neo-neo-classical art? the avant garde seems to be largely out of favor with society but everyone loves to see pictures of old churches and see the roman architecture

>implying being a ruin isn't as much a part of all these buildings stories as anything else

serves them right, they trusted a venetian

We need more mesoamerican architecture in mexico and central america.

Fucking Venetians.

>post-modernist garbage is good because some hipster spent time studying how to make everything a bland mix of concrete, glass and metal

lol what the fuck is that
looks like a growing tumor

Looks fucking cool desu.

Or Ice 3/Blizzaga.

Imagine living in the city that travesty is located in. It might be cool for a tourist but it's a fucking spit in the face of those who have to see it daily.

...

>the architect of that disgusting defacement is jewish
Coincidence?

The old building is uninspired and boring desu.

do you think we should let all of the animals in zoos run free because they are in artificial environments? intact ruins of ancient civilizations are preserved for cultural understanding/connection and anthropological study.

the cost of producing a new replica of mostly the same design would probably be far cheaper than restoring the old building/ruin anyways. restoration and upkeep cost a lot of money/effort to do correctly

I’ll have to agree with you there but what they did to the Dresden arsenal and Berlin City palace is a fucking joke

And the addition is an eye sore, what's your point?

>professional architect devoting their entire life to their craft is "some hipster"
top jej

>just because you devoted your life to making shit doesn't mean that the shit that you make is bad sweetie ;)

>it is good because it is new

Modern architecture is uncultured and rootless. All modern cities look the same now. Even those "waky" buildings, they look like they belong anywhere. Not a hint of culture.
