You don't have to be a genius to understand the absolute basics of game theory and how financial markets work. Most of the market volatility in situations like the upcoming Sibos can be predicted so easily it's ridiculous. Just take the existing market sentiment (in this case: "people are going to sell the news"), and extrapolate one step further (in this case "if everyone sells the news, the selling will commence at when the market receives its first bear signal, because they're all expecting a sell-off", meaning first big sell leads to a huge overall dip).
You also don't have to be a genius to learn how to read and DYOR. All this shit is out there, ready for you to find and read.
So when you add the first part together with the second (news of new paying customers are not expected by the market, and certainly not priced in), you get a scenario which plays out like the one I described in my OP.

It depends on the gas price. Usually it's set to 4 Gwei that is the standard and the slowest. Mew has a gas price of 21 and is usually faster. Set your gas price up if you want faster transactions.
