Teach me about the Kurds, Veeky Forums. All I really know about them is Saladin was one, and the west backs them nowadays even though they're a little crazy and kinda communists.

They are an Iranic people, but are heavily admixed by other Semitic peoples and the Turks, yet somehow still retain a cultural sense of their own. Primarily Sunni Muslims, they are mainly clustered population wise in Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Turkey. Earliest known mention of Kurds is at the very end of the Arsacid dynasty/Parthian Empire era when the Sassanian Persians were fighting them for control of Iran; in which the last Arsacid ruler and the Sassanian founder used the term "Kurd' as an insult since it implicates one is a wanderer/vagabond/outcast/hermit/exile. So its not sure if those "Kurds "are the same as modern day Kurds. Otherwise, historically they have never really had a settled defined homeland in the Near East and attempts to carve a state out of Iran, Turkey, Iraq, and Syria has been met with resistance.

Interesting people.

Descendants of the Medes

Literally turkey, iraq and iran's niggers.

No.

Prove me wrong Turk

Kurds descend from the east scythians and sarmatians

The kurds are unlike other middle eastern people not patriarchal and even encourage their women to take roles which in other socities only man could have, for example as soldiers

HOL UP YOU BE SAYIN WE WUZ STEPPE CAUCASOIDS AN SHEEEEEIIIIIT

apperentley yes

They're the best in the middle east, proud Sunni discriminated by everyone else because they're somewhat socialist, wiser, and follow a more figurative interpretation of the Coran
The hate and reputation they get is due to their both their history and disinformation from the surrounding governments due to how dangerous they are to the current institutions.

They are a mix of caucasians (hurrians), Iranians and various meds.

Thats all i know about them.

The kurds have a history of many revolts and rebellions because they deny often deny non kurdish leaders.

Yeap, they descend from Indo-European tribes who migrated into the Fertile Crescent 4,000 years ago.

Got a source for heavily mixed with semites? As far as I know most Kurds have like 10-15 percent semitic DNA.

WE WUZ GOATFUCKIN SANDNIGGERS ND SHIET

Medes and Kurds :
-Not the same language
-Not the same culture
-Not the same place of origin

Troll? I hope so.
Also, Kurds in most parts of Turkey, Iran, and Iraq are tribalistic. They deny women rights, marry more than one women, do the most honour killings

Lol, please come visit the middle east. Kurds are one of the most militans believers of Islam. Literally all Islamist rebels in Turkey have somehow Kurdish origin.
Kurds migrated to Anatolia and Iraq in the 9 and 10. century. They have nothing in commen (Language, culture, history) with those ancient people.

They dont
Kurds were iranians tribes that migrated after arab invasion, any iranian tribe migrating was called a kurd

This is true. Ottoman sources called even nomadic Turkmen tribes "Ekrad"(Kurd)

Explains why Zazakis and Feyli Lurs were seen as "kurds" by Arabs and Turks

The term "Kurdistan" was used by the Seljuk Turks as geographical name like Caucasia. The ottoman sources use to call Kurds "Ekrad", but like I said, Ekrad was used for all "eastern" nomadic tribes.

Zaza's dont speak Kurdish, and dont understand Kurdish. Ottoman sources call them Ekrad, Zaza, Dimli. (And again : Ekrad [Kurd] was used for all nomadic people in the east)

There are two primarily Kurdish religions, similar to each other, known as Yezidi and Ahl e Haq. At least the first one is located near the Assyrian (especially "Chaldean") Christian majority areas. Which are often shown as Kurdish majority on these maps.

Yezidis have been accused of being devil worshippers. They believe seven angels rule the world instead of God. They forbid use of words relating to Satan as they believe he is a fallen angel rather than the Devil. Prior to the 19th century, both Yezidis and Nestorians wielded significant power in the region, and now they are threatened. In fact, the Nestorians of the mountains in Turkey have been expelled since at least the 1980s, and tthe majority fled in the 10s and 20s. Many Yezidi shrines have also been destroyed by I. S. I. S.

The majority of Yezidis speak Kurdish and the majority of Assyrians speak Aramaic. I believe Ahl e Haq members also speak Kurdish.

Also, there are numerous Kurds or Kurdish speakers in Northeastern Iran, not shown on that map.

How do Kurdish Nationalists feel about the fact that the Founder of Yazidi Religion was a Lebanon arab?

I mean it doesn't matter In the end but still

ITT: Turks spreading bs about Kurds.
