Maybe hyperextending

>maybe

Idk maybe you're not arching your back enough. Fully arch your lower back so it can absorb more weight.

probably leaning back too far and doing standing bench press instead of The Press. keep your hands in line with your arms and squeeze your glutes hard when you push. Bring your head under the bar

I feel like I'm over arching and I'm going to snap in half backwards.

Breath big, keep core tight, squeeze glutes, and lean back a bit from the hip while keep spine neutral before pressing overhead. I used to have back pain while doing The Press, but following these queues has made it better.

like this?

Dont forget to lock out your knees

Just like this, a fuck of a lot less graceful though

Kek im gonna try this at my gym just to get stares

>2016
>not building your standing bench press

Keep glutes squeezed and bar face as close to the bar as possible
Is simple

thats why i dont fuck with standing ohp. i stick to seated db press and the gains and feels are still there, no back pain.

theres no reason for you to just do ohp

>theres no reason for you to just do ohp
Post a pic of your shoulders. Bet mine look better

Veeky Forums is actively trying to a kill a man in this thread.

>popcorn

this is Veeky Forums, i could be on test and tren and have people still say "DYEL" so yea nah. i can confirm that i get mired irl and ohp doesnt offer any advantage over seated db press its the same fukin movement

this. Your chest should be almost facing the ceiling.

I've been doing ohp with an overhand grip this whole time wtf

Don't do this op

Your core is weak, you're not engaging your core, and you're not squeezing your glutes.

No, not like that. That guy is literally incline bench pressing. Don't be that guy.

You can say whatever the fuck you want man. It comes down to you making claims and not posting a pic to back it up.

You proved my point.

If you have an anterior pelvic tilt don't do standing ohp

>the press

You're not going straight up during your press and the weight is going behind your head, causing low back pain. Next you OHP, stand perpendicular to the mirror and watch the bar, it has to go straight up.

Squeeze glutes, end of problem.

>weak core
>weak glutes

idk, try strengthing your core la.

fuck off nerd, ohp is a memelift and if ur back hurts dont fucking do it, period.

seated db press works the same exact muscles and thats undisputed

Standing.

>fuck off nerd, ohp is a memelift and if ur back hurts dont fucking do it, period.
>fuck off nerd, bench press is a memelift and if ur back hurts dont fucking do it, period.
>fuck off nerd, squat is a memelift and if ur back hurts dont fucking do it, period.
>fuck off nerd, deadlift is a memelift and if ur back hurts dont fucking do it, period.

>fuck off nerd

seated ohp is more likely to cause back pain than standing because you dont have your hips and core engaged

what other grip is htere for ohp?

Now that you're starting to lift a bit heavier you can start feeling aches and pains that tell you that you're fucking up.

LIft lighter
Tighten your stomach back and glutes
You should not feel pain in your back unless you have some kind of physical injury/undiagnosed physical back..thing that fucks you up.

Are you retarded?

Standing OHP is superior to seated db in every way, if your back Hurts it's because you have shit form not because the movement is to blame.

Im on the side that if your back hurts just do dumbbell shoulder press or even smith machine seated shoulder press...literally only gains you get from ohp is engaging your core...

You're a stupid piece of shit. Hope you have a nice night. :^)

It just feels that way. Arching your back incorporates your whole erector spinae. That's what you need to develop to maintain a neutral spine with compound lifts.

DB and BB are both equally great.

Be careful though doing only one and not the other, I have very strong triceps comparatively and this ended up taking over during my DB Press creating minimal shoulder gains.

OP, listen to King Rip and watch this vid.

Bad form and not enough deadlifts

Your back is not a spring, retard.

srs answer - squeeze your ass.

DYEL detected. I only do Standing Barbell The Press with a 170 max and I guarantee my shoulders are way bigger than yours.

Just be yourself OP.

kek

Seated DB Press is a Delt exercise. OHP is for your traps. They work different muscles

...

fucking this

your spine will be neutral, it'll be supported by your whole core and not only your lower back

squeeze it like you were trying to protect it in prison

lower your weights till you figure out proper form you stupid cuck

What? OHP destroys my shoulders lmao.

I'm getting REALLLLLY pissed off with the Google captcha "click until there are none left" bullshit. Just clicked like 20 rivers fucking pathetic thing.

Depends on how wide/narrow your grip is for OHP. You can also hit delts with OHP.

Lol bro. Are you on mobile? There's been a virus out that targets sites that use captchas. I've never had to do any other captchas but the basic one, but when I use my porn addicted cookie cutter friend's tablet I get copy and pastes captchas.

Apparently it sends out data to help them identify you or someshit, idfk.

>Apparently it sends out data to help them identify you or someshit, idfk.

just sit down retard

In my case it's probably because I have lordosis, so I have no other choice but do the seated version

squeeze them glutes OP

>what am I doing wrong?

You're doing meme exercises

tighten your abs and glutes

lock everything, punch the sky, headbutt your reflection

Op you sound like a beginner, if so, I had the same issue when I started. I backed the weight way down and started working on it again after a couple weeks off to let my back recover. The issue I believe was my lower back muscles were smaller than my arm and shoulder muscles. Granted these were small too, but the back was even smaller. So when I tried to do ohp it would stress these muscles too much. Now I do ohp twice a week and have doubled my weight.

Just don't ego lift, stick to weight you can do without injury. Gains will come.

pretty sound advice actually
