Leg press vs Squat. Which lift do you guys prefer? Any one know a good ratio? Me and buddy tested out leg press to squat ratio to see what differences were. He is 6ft 3 223 lbs and I'm 6ft 187 lbs. We did squats first day, he maxed out at 365lb for 1 rep and my weak ass did 225lb for 3 reps. Three days later we did leg press. We put 3 plates on each end. He was able to get 18 reps and I was able to get 20. What the actual fuck? I guess there are no exact ratio on this.

...

squats are better, high risk to fuck you up.

leg press is easier, low risk to fuck you up.

when I hit 30, i'm switching from squats to leg press

Wow dude im 6'1 and 145 lbs and im squating 405

completely different you ninny

Leg press is a rigged machine made by gypsy casino people. They are stealing reps from you. The house always wins. You could've just squatted and kept your winnings, but gambling gains is a beguiling call to death and you are addicted to the sweet pitch of its siren.

Due to my hernia I cant do squats anymore,so leg press it is :\ They are fine, you feel more comfortable putting more wheight, knowing you cant get hurt.

>high risk to fuck you up

if you have shit form

Squat by far. Leg Press is a good accessory to Squats if your leg power is really weak. However it's so easy to hit the max the machine allows on Leg Press, so as an exercise its usefulness is short.

Leg press is better purely as a quad builder, but that's it.

so by that logic, you admit that if all you want is legs that look good, don't do any sports, all you need is leg press?

the issue is glutes and hamstrings.

you'll still need to do some kind of variation of a deadlift, like stiff-leg deadlifts,

leg curl machine isn't enough, especially when you're doing tons of weight on the leg press

>6'1
>145
a police sketch artist came up with this

what about placing your feet higher up on the platform on some workouts to engage the glutes and back of the legs more? i notice that if i put my feet lower on the platform and closer together, it's all quads but higher up and spread apart makes the back of my legs and my ass sore

went up 10 lbs in squat
that turned into a leg pressing two plates more

> im 6'1 and 145 lbs
>squating 405

I've seen that one video enough times to be irrationally afraid of using a leg press.

You know which one I'm talking about.

squats

Could someone please tell me what squats are for?
Why are you training your legs?
Stacey won't have any time to look at your legs if your abs are good enough.

Oh you are something special, Mr Johnny quid

If you want to engage your hams and ass more on legpress go deep, if you do shorter rep you can just isolate purely quads on legpress

sauce?

Leg press is the exact same type of leg flexion as squat. They only difference is squatting places no weight on your back to support. Your glutes and hamstrings work plenty.

It basically boils down to the same "free weights vs. machines" argument as any other lift. Free weights are objectively better.

Front squats are even better at this than a leg press

just don't lock up breh

top kek

To get good gains with squats you have to perfect your form, which requires high level movement
It comes down to Risk/Reward, since you can snap your shit easy with squats

with leg press you can just get on and blast the living shit out of your legs

I can barely do 2pl squat 3 times, I can do 8pl leg press 15 times. I seriously need to just find a decent trainer to teach me decent form on squat.

...

aka the same "free weights vs machines" argument people make for any lift. Muh safety vs. muh gains.

I fucking hate it. Goes through my mind everytime I put on more weight.

Sure, but that becomes a no Scotsman thing so quickly. Someone injured themselves with squats? Well its cause they are doing it with bad form. Literally no one has good form all the time. some people don't want to risk it with an exercise where 2" forward or backwards is the difference between career-ending injury and just another leg day.

If you really really want to you can also injure yourself on the leg press.

Every beginner knows that squats are the king and deadlifts the queen of exercises. Why do young punks always think they can ignore the eternal laws of the universe?

Opposite problem.

Can 2 pl8 squat over 15 times, but two plates on leg press makes me feel like I'm dying each rep. I tap out at 3

why are you talking about stacy when youre obviously a faggot, user?

Because they're hard to do heavy and most people are lazy as fuck.

I swear it's the same mentality as fatlogic - some people will do anything to avoid doing squats and diddlies, up to and including making up genetic conditions.
