I did it Veeky Forums, I fucking did it. Pulled 5x5 on deadlifts and killed my lower back. I can barely move without sharp pain there. Everything that involves using my lower back is extremely painful. Even now while laying on the bed its barely managable. Can you tell me about your injuries and recoveries?

>5x5 on deadlifts

you deserve it fäm

Dont worry, try to get up and moving when the pain lessens. Backs are stronk.

Never said I didn't deserve it. It was a stupid little experiment since I got sick of squats. I just wanna know how long will it take to heal back to full power. I'm 22.5.

You're supposed to do 1 x 5 on Deadlifts you fucking nigger. Read the damn program before skimming what you read on Veeky Forums.

My program calls for 4x5, is that bad?

I do 3x5 but third set is usually so tough that it's 2-3 reps

What's so bad about doing five sets of five on deadlifts?

I did 5x10 on deadlifts for a long time with no problem (but they're tiring as fuck).

I snapped my shit on squats a few weeks ago and I'm feeling fine now. just ease back into it. focus on keeping your core tight and your form perfect. add weight again slowly, even if you don't feel anything at the gym you might be hurting the next day.

My program says 3x5...

Even with this 3 sets I snapped something and this thread making me realize I should bring it down to one set every workout.

My girl is gonna overtake me in deadlifts if this takes more than two weeks to recover from and if she doesnt hit plateau. Feels batman...

B8

or im jealous ;(

No reason to be jelly m8, she is still skeltal mode, and both of us are taking it easy, going up 2.5kg per sesion. Probably gonna overtake her later, but still feels batman.

How long did it take to get back to the gym?

Also should I continue with machines+belt while my back recovers. Tomorow is squat, press, deadlift. So maybe leg press and shoulder press machine?

uhh... how much did weight were you deadlifting when you hurt ur back?

Big barbell + 15kg on both sides, so a little over 50kg.

lol

It wears you out too much.

1 x 5 on the end of full body is the way to go.

How long is your dick?

deadlift faggots. why the fuck are you doing this useless shit. if you are training back, train the fucking BACK, if you want to trai ln the legs train the LEGS!!!

Mine did too, I fucking hate deadlifts

OP I got the same back injury as you did. Not gonna lie, took me a month for it to go away but now, 3 months later, sometimes my lower back still aches (like, right now it does)

Apply numbing cream and antiflammatory shit and don't squat or deadlift for at least 4 weeks

hmm, might as well ask here
doing my dl's in 4 sets: (yes, i know -- babyweight, but gotta start somewhere, and would rather work up to a legit weight than fuck my shit up, like OP)

1: 5 reps 2plate (double overhand)
2&3: 5 reps at 3 plate (alternating mixed)
4: 5 reps at 245 pounds (double overhand)

am i retarded?

>how long will it take to heal back to full power. I'm 22.5.
I slipped a disc in 2011, and again in 2013.
My back has never been the same.
Doctor said it takes 5 years to fully heal.

Go to a doctor. Do some imaging. Then a doctor can tell you. The spine is very complicated. Thinking "I hurt my back, probably it will have the same clinical course as some other fit faggot's back injury" is beyond stupid. Really, as a doctor (not a spine specialist, but currently doing a rotation at neurosurgery where their daily bread is prolapsed discs) it amazes me how stupid people are with their health. They think their common knowledge applies to the human body. Just that it doesn't. The reason you haven't been severely punished for this amazing stupidity is just that at your young age the odds are still in your favor for most health issues.

I'm confused. You sound like you know something about this, and yet you recommend imaging, which is useless at best, counterproductive at worst?

Can you suggest me a substitute workouts for squats, deadlifts and rows?

I started getting back pain after reaching one plate and over. I stopped deadlifting at 175lbs to avoid injury. I did isolations instead. Totally worth it imo

Alternatively you could learn how to deadlift instead of catbacking weights.

I don't know very much about fitness compares to most people here I guess. I've just been starting anew after rock climbing for 10 years. Sorry.
What they tell the people after spine surgery to protect their spine is to be cautious (no rotation, no bending, no sitting/standing for prolonged periods, generally taking it easy, doing mild aerobic exercise like walking) for 4-6 weeks (disc prolapse, sequesterectomy) or for 3 months (spondylodesis = spinal fusion).

STOP FUCKING DEADLIFTING IT'S LITERALLY USELESS BODYBUILDING-WISE

it's an ego lift to look cool to random faggots you see at the gym.

if you're powerlifting, stay in your containment thread and stop wondering why you look like shit.

>LITERALLY
No.
Also, it's an exercise. Calm down. Just an exercise.

This just in: lower back and glutes are useless bodybuilding-wise, says anonymous user of a mongolian goat herding congregation

Imaging is useless for unspecific lower back pain. I understood the OP to have injured his back.

You literally do not know if what you see on the MRI is what's actually causing his pain.
According to the 2016 clinical guidelines here in Denmark, a scan is NOT recommended as routine practice.

Stronglifts claims another one. Great program.

Jesus just throw a plate on each side and do a set and increase from there next workout. Don't fucking do 5x5 again

If your lifting that low of a weight you shouldnt be doing 5x5. Do 1 x 5 and get strong before you start doing 5 fucking sets you retard.

You were probably doing them wrong

8.5 x 6.5 , why?

>deadlifts are the only way to build lower back and glutes

i had the same, wait for some weeks, rest much try sitting instead of lying/standing, went away after 1 week. ah the good old days, reached 70kgx5 for the first time and was like deadliftin is over for me, but it went away after some time. oh, and maybe take a way longer break of diddly, squat and basically legs in general till it feels fine again, the 1week-break is for any kind of activity

That's because they're expensive and insurance companies/the government doesn't want to pay for them. Same reason the US government is trying to dial back the recommendations for shit like breast exams.

yea, back involving stuff is a nogo, and ohp is quite a lot of back work. but try to avoid machines and just do dumbbells, and leg press wont be much better for your back than squats.

>It's literally useless bodybuilding-wise

Kek

You probably acted like a retarded nigger and went up too fast, without looking at form.

I'm on 5X5, currently DL is 46 kg. I know I can do 90 kg easy but I'm taking it slow and making sure form is perfect.

Follow the fucking program faggot, and this won't happen. Why the hell would you even do 5x5.

dunno whats the purpose of that sets, but i prefer 8/5/3 with 5kg weight increase, do what pleases you, but id stick to one grip for all sets

id say he should wait a bit, my problem that felt like snapping was perfectly fine after some weeks and now i lift twice the weight

well i want to work on my grip strength, but also not let it be the hindrance.. so kind of trying to work on both at the same time.

You are a shame to medicine, kill yourself right now.

Falling for the back pain = spinal imaging faggotry. You need to read and not just blindly follow the cashcucks at your neurosurgery clinic.

lower back basically is

>deadlifting 46kg

Just 6 weeks into lifting, cut me some slack you monster.

This!

I done did fuck up my back last year. Disc ruptured and herniated. The Disc fluid gave me sciatica. I can work out with the belt on and all that, but I wouldn't even dare deadlift for atleast another year (the injury happened last july)

I feel your pain OP.

>max out c&j
>5'10 165 lbs and did a 165 lb hang c&j
>pretty happy since its been only been 4 weeks since i started oly lifts
>doing high bar pause squats >realizing that my low back is killing
>probably shouldn't do these on c&j days
>decide of all days that rack pulls are great idea to try
>starting position is higher than knees
>185x10 and 225x5
>Mfw my low back the next day

Bro go do bodyweight lunges it'll help with hip tightness a lot. Do lunges in all directions and get a nice stretch from it. An ice bath also helped as did backwards walking and walking while maintaing good posture.

>6 weeks lifting
>46 kg deadlift

Wtf, I started at at 90 kg...

Stop. You have no idea what you're talking about.

And that's how you get to snap city

normal deadlifts arent the best grip exercise. try farmers walks and static holds for grip strength maybe. barbell shrugs and RDL also feel quite grip heavy for me

Oh look it's a thread where weak lifters pat each other on the back for having perfect form but being weak as shit.

>tfw bored on a rest day and doing 5x10 deadlift for a sweet burn and erector spinae pump

Stronglifts says 1x5 after Squats and OHP.

Read things before posting m8.

Barbell = 20Kg

6 Weeks into lifting (WITH NORMAL DL PROGRAM AKA 1x5) = 45Kg

Total= 65Kg

And that's takes in account that you started only with empty bar.

How the fuck is it useless bodybuilding wise? It creates a strong back so you can lift more on other excersizes. Just get off of Veeky Forums.

I didn't do SL the entire 6 weeks you daft faggot. It takes time to find the right program
