Historically, the European scene has not been dominated by hebrew mythology. It has been dominant for more than a thousand years, and was absent for thousands of years prior to that.

Just study the classics and you'll appreciate the clear and inevitable decline of hebrew mythology in the West. Also, nothing is stopping you from worshipping Priapus (except possible sex crime charges if you worship too eagerly in public)

Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy are unconscious manifestations of the same sacred powers people have always worshiped. Even if most of the actual adherents won't admit to this. When he claims there are three sets of 14 generations to get from Abraham to Jesus, and actually omits names listed in Chronicles to get his count "right", and then includes 15 generations in the middle set, I think it's pretty clear Matthew can't in fact count. Why deliberately omit names if you're not trying to force it into your numerlogical schema? And why do it wrong if you can count?
