What do you do for a living Veeky Forumsizens? Or if you're studying, what are you studying?

What do you do for a living Veeky Forumsizens? Or if you're studying, what are you studying?

i'm studying some nudes of your mom rn kid

Grad student and instructor

Currently working on becoming a firefighter

Engineering student, lifter of reasonably heavy objects and general failure at life

Studying a business degree double majoring in finance and accounting senpai

wow finance AND accounting?? sounds like you're gonna have an absolute blast until you're 60

But i like finance friend...

Will begin studying electrical engineering september. Will also begin lifting properly then (because university gym).

I'm a security guard working 3 days a week.

I feel pathetic but I'm not sure if I like life enough to work 5 days, or at least give away that much of my time. Or maybe I like free time too much.

At least I'm not in denial and leaving myself open to improving my life. I will work my share somehow. I just need to find my own way.

First year of bachelor of physiotherapy

Night shift gas attendant.

It's chill, good wages, permanent shift. I want to improve but I'm just not smart enough. At least I look alright

Manage a stockroom. Done this for 6 years. Never intended too. Filled shelf's for a supermarket to kill time in highschool. Got promoted when I started working full time, jumped company's twice and somehow I'm still doing it. 55k a year.

I need to do something different asap. I'm trying to use what I've learned to start my own business. I make about $200 profit a week from my own shit i sell online. spend 2 hours a week on it. Need to grow a pair and take a risk. Quit my job and invest more money in my own business.

Are you a slave to your university and overworked or is that just a meme? Is this the hardest and worst part of your life so far? Genuinely asking.

Not him but unjust dropped out of grad school.
It's shitty but if you love the subject it's not so bad. We're mistreated as fuck though.
>reapplying to different schools even though I hate this life

Cop. Gonna apply for undercover criminal investigation soon. Feels like in the movies. Gotta stay Veeky Forums and lift heavy.

I work at Popeyes for the summer between college semesters for computer science.

Nursing. Going to head back to uni soon to get a postgrad going, get that CNS dosh.

Why don't you just go work if you hate it?

Y-you didn't major in something stupid and unemployable, r-right user?

wgats it like?

> What do you do for a living Veeky Forumsizens?

nothing

> if you're studying, what are you studying?

nothing, there is no hope for me. leave me behind.

Is it worth getting a summer job? I'm thinking of getting one this summer but I do the math and it's only like $1000-$2000 when I could just have a completely free summer and pursue lifting any my other hobbies and just relax in general.

I have about $5000 saved up and I don't go out/spend much so I can already buy little things I want here and there

UK or US? I'm hating nursing tbqh. Already graduating and working. CNS any better you think? How do I into?

software engineering

I considered nursing back when I first started college, what is it that you hate about it?

NEET masterrace

Well theres tons of rules but if you want to get anything done you need to know just how to bend them. Open hours. Regular days are 8 hour shifts but if working on a case no off until youve got your guy. Usually people come quietly but you have to be prepared for anything.

fuck off with that meme, you can't engineer software... you're a programmer.

Studying business, however I don't know if I can afford it much longer so I want to drop out and work full time and live with friends. I also want to start steroids and just lift, eat, banter and live a hedonistic life despite working 40 hours at a dead end job with fantastic people.

I know it's cliche but I've been reading less economic textbooks and more philosophy books, and living in the now seems more appealing despite the fact I won't have a retirement fund or much of a plan for a future.

Maybe I should just drop out, work and fuck around and enjoy life and go back when I'm more mature at 25 and pursue a career then. Anyone been in a similar situation before?

Ausfailia. I hated it to start out with, then got more experience and senior, got into the area I want to work (emergency) and did some study at home. Theres so much to know and it can be stressful as fuck, but I'm certain if I had a desk job somewhere I'd get bored.
CNS earns way more for practically the same job, maybe an inservice here and there added on. Just do a postgrad in the specialisation you want to be CNS in, assuming your workplace agrees.

please be in Sydney

>ITT neets thinking they know shit

programmer is a guy who types code and anyone can be a programmer and a software engineer is a dude who writes stuff like IDEs or engines in which programmers work. Every software engineer can code , but not every programmer knows how software engineering.

Educate yourself before you speak you autist

> writes stuff like IDEs or engines in which programmers work

that's still programming my friend

Mitch?

except it's not

would you call they guy who made photoshop a programmer?

programming is just to implement the stuff a software engineer engineered. You can't just write code mindlessly, you have to think about it.

Not him but the 2 majors involve very different curriculum and purpose, at least at the upper division level. He didn't sound like he was just trying to identify as an engineer, which is why you're attacking him right?

Also most people know that software engineering and programming are both inferior to your traditional engi fields. Still a solid field nonetheless.

trying to identify as an engineer just to be on the engineer boat, he sounded like he was just stating his field**
Fixed

Get the job, it'll be much better

Tech Startup.

A real one where you work 80+ hours a week (actual work not bullshit 'oh I tried/thought about work today' work). Shit sucks and I hate it at this point but I'm a bit too deep to back out.

actually i didn't try to identify as engineer i just said what i'm studying. programmer can be a freelancer without formal college education and that's fine but thread asked what i'm studying and formal name is computer science but my module is software engineering.

Also at my college electrical engineering and computer science are 2 possible courses you can choose and even tho i signed up for this college because of electrical engineering I just saw greater potential for future work in computer science because systems today are just more automated especially in energetics

>studying business
>can't even manage that and just going to dropout and be a gymrat with nothing else to offer
>can't even do that right and going to use steroids
>"I read a few philosophy books it's so deep, I can understand things differently now!"
>Yet you can't even understand the concept of delayed gratification

Your typical bro business major ladies and gentlement. I bet you can't even pull 5 plates yet and you want to hop on juice already.

>actually i didn't try to identify as engineer i just said what i'm studying.
Yeah that's what I was saying, sorry it was unclear.

Care to elaborate or give any reasons/justifications with that statement?

so a "software engineer" is just someone who is able to build a piece of software from start to finish?

all good brah, also i'm finishing 2nd year

well yes and no. Such a job requires vast knowledges and skills that's why everyone specializes and excels in different roles. Data analysts, system administrators and so on.

But, essentially yes , a freelance, experienced software engineer could build a smaller software from start to finish by himself

USA?

Have you ever heard of a company hiring both "programmers" and "software engineers" for different things? because I haven't.

Are you literally retarded? I think you're just trolling now..

Software developers can literally do a ton of different jobs related to computer science such as database control, web development data analyzing and so on . A programmer or a coder is just a person who knows how to code and that's it, or simply put he uses stuff software engineers made possible.

Why are you upset?

this was a response to this

I'm not, I just found that post funny and wanted to point out the ridiculousness of it. Text doesn't carry tone.

i'm not, but you seem to be... programmers don't just use other code "software engineers" created... look it up bro, you don't know what the h*ck you're talking about.

english is not my primary language i thought by programmer you meant coder.

Doesn't matter anyway , thread asked what i was studying and i'm not studying programming but software engineering
kpissoutbye

> double degree in business and communications
> martial arts instructor for a year
> worked a year in mining/energy - project management
> moved to Japan and taught English for a year
> decided to become an author
> masters in creative writing
> wrote the books - miserable sales
> became a high school teacher - taught for a year and hated it (public system)
> joined the Navy as an officer - chronic seasickness so discharged after 2 years
> completed grad certificate of intelligence
> decided to become a spy - trained for a year and got through all the interviews but didn't secure a job
> started my own software company this year specializing in games based on neuroscience

Currently deciding whether I should join the police or army of my business doesn't take off.

I work from home coding so I can head out any time of the day and train. Currently do about an hour of work then do 15 minutes of training outside to break up the work day.

Working fulltime in an office. At least I can browse dank memes all day.

How old are you? How many years did all these things take to do? Do you have any significant savings from all these endeavours?

It's ridiculous that somebody who isn't enjoying his life, wants to make a change?

>gymrat with nothing else to offer
Being in the gym gives me peace, and progression. I enjoy it. What do I have to offer to society? I mean, other people in their early 20's offer what?

>can't even do that right
Do what? Study? Yeah, I probably can't do that right. I'm not really interested in business anymore as it's all so trivial.

>going to use steroids
Absolutely. Will keep me from drinking every weekend and will be beneficial to my everyday life. Keeping in mind I'm talking testosterone, nothing else.

>read a few philosophy books
It doesn't hurt to expand your mind, it sounds cliche and edgy but I don't want to be on the same path as everyone else.

>delayed gratification
I'm a stupid, impatient 20 year old. I have no concept of that now and won't for a few years. I'd rather live in the now while I'm young, and deal with all that when I'm older.

Are you seriously this gullible?

...

>It's ridiculous that somebody who isn't enjoying his life, wants to make a change?
And your going to make that change by dropping out of school, becoming a gymrat with nothing else going for you, and shortening your life by potentially decades with steroids, just so you can look good without putting in the time and work naturally?
>Being in the gym gives me peace, and progression. I enjoy it. What do I have to offer to society? I mean, other people in their early 20's offer what?
You think doing nothing else but going to the gym for 1-2 hrs a day is going to make you happy? I didn't mean to society necessarily, rather to yourself. You're setting yourself up to be a 40 year old roidhead gymrat that makes $13/hour
>Do what? Study? Yeah, I probably can't do that right. I'm not really interested in business anymore as it's all so trivial.
Big surprise, most Business and MBA programs are absolute jokes. Try something in STEM if you want a challenge or intellectual stimulation
>Will keep me from drinking every weekend and will be beneficial to my everyday life. Keeping in mind I'm talking testosterone, nothing else.
Unless you are stepping on IFBB stage or doing some un-regulated PL or strongman competition there is literally no reason to juice other than being a lazy piece of shit.
>It doesn't hurt to expand your mind, it sounds cliche and edgy but I don't want to be on the same path as everyone else.
Sure, but if you want to be that euphoric faggot that's suddenly into philosophy at age 20, at least don't be so fucking retarded, lazy, and shortsighted as you have proven to be.
>I'm a stupid, impatient 20 year old. I have no concept of that now and won't for a few years. I'd rather live in the now while I'm young, and deal with all that when I'm older.
Except you do have a concept of it. You just acknowledged it and understand the ideas behind it. You just don't want to make the choices that will make the rest of your life 10x easier and not shitty.

I did it because I needed money for my excess food diet since I'm bulking, and I was getting sick of staying in my room all day every day and only going out to lift and eat. I'm trying to save for a trip to another country in about a year or so as well.

The only reason for a summer job is to make extra money and it seems like you're pretty well off without one. If you don't need money then I guess there isn't a point. Still, it might be good to start saving to pay off your college debts if you have them. Also you won't look like a lazy fuck.

>Y-you didn't major in something stupid and unemployable, r-right user?

Different user did post grad still cant find a job
>tfw overqualified for shitty positions and under for good ones ;_;

I see. None of that really applies to me though so I guess it's all good.

> 28
> started university when I was 15
> studied for about 8 years
> each venture took about a year except the Navy
> 100k in student loan debt

Many skills and a great amount of experience, but no money. I do travel to Japan every year so that is a major expense.

Was it worth it? Yes. Would I do it again? Yes.

Many of my friends have multiple properties, but also have massive mortgages. Financially I'm behind, but of my business takes off I'll be in the green.

>Try something in STEM if you want a challenge or intellectual stimulation
Or a job.

Going to start as a lifeguard tomorrow
>tfw fat af in the beach

>falling for the "jobs in stem fields" meme
>having this little actual knowledge about the job market

The only people I hear utter this nonsense are usually people that did something retarded like majoring in something like Bio or Physics, or went to a shit no-name school, or got a shit GPA, or didn't do any research or internships during their undergrad, or are severely limiting themselves geographically or any combination of the above.

Automotive test engineer. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and electrical engineering.

Is taxi driver a good job?

srs question btw

Software engineer

Computer Applications student.

I'd hate to see your payslip after taxes boi.. Hopefully things will work out.

i collect NEETbux and laugh at wagies.

i'm a case worker at a hospital, currently trying to get my nail salon business off the ground.

Almost finishing med school and working on the side in clothing manufacture

Generally only software engineers get hired into companies who mean shit like google Facebook and amazon. Programmers can work anywhere from midsized companies to larger ones doing simple SQL work.
To finish the interview process for google you need to know computer science deep from a engineering standpoint, not just be able to write code.

I do shitty factory work for $14 an hour. I'm thinking about going back to college because every time I think about sticking this job out and attempting to climb up the corporate ladder the only thing comes to mind is suicide.

I'm a full-time musician.

Science teacher here

Work for one of my professors and have an internship at USGS.

Quality Engineer. Product/component breaks on the assembly line, I figure out why and who's responsible.

>usually
come on bro don't leave us hanging like that

if you're American, are cops really particularly trigger-happy with blacks there? I'm South African, so it's kinda the norm here. Then again, it's pretty normal to be trigger-happy with our girlfriends as well.

My fucking cousin who's majoring in comp sci and got a summer internship that pays 15k for 10 weeks

Freelance pixel artist, niche enough that I want to say the only one on Veeky Forums

How come people don't respect those that study Business. It is a good major choice

full stack webdev freelancer (with occasional odd job in times demand is low)
have a masters degree in computer engineering

Not entirely. I had full stipend and NSERC funding so I could have dedicated my time solely to research, but I insisted on teaching because I wanted the extra cash and that I enjoy it.
The academic climate will continue to be shit for a few decades, so I'm planning on leaving for a research position in industry (either in quantum computing or semi/superconductor) after I get my PhD.

Medfag here, hoping to specialize in urology soon. Some money on the side playing in bars and restaurants too.

Mobile application dev for a pretty big company. Not the most exciting work, but 70k/yr doesn't hurt.

>good major choice

Hahahahahaha

Not american. Middle eastern.

Pharmacy.

Man, I just want these hormones

Physics PhD

I'm a welder. It's cold as hell in the winter, hot as balls during the summer, but it is pretty damn satisfying to build things to perfection.

>senior software engineer with random big corp
>be in top 1% quantile of earners in my country

that being said, i've dedicated my life to computers and software. kiss-less virgin until 24 and all that stuff that comes with it.

com science at cambridge

Middle eaatern dude here, only the drug enforcement have guns, all we carry is handcuffs

Public servant. Getting my masters degree in Linguistics
