>Jeanne Calment (21 February 1875 – 4 August 1997) considered the most important historical event in her lifetime to have been the Russian Revolution of 1917 and the execution of the Russian imperial family, a view shared by many fellow centenarians.[7]

Was this really the most important event during her lifetime, Veeky Forums?

Russian revolution yes, royal family not so much.
Revolution defined the rest of the century.

>The event which made the WW2 possible both in Europe (as Russia cooperating was the thing which allowed the Invasion of Poland and onwards) and in Asia (as the Tzar was all about fucking up the Japanese, but couldn't because of the revolution, so Japanese had free reign to go full reich on the rest of Asia).
>The event which made Communism popular on a global scale and created the Cold war, which lasted and shaped the majority of her latter years.

What should have she said instead? WW1 seems about the only viable option left.

All of europ lost their shit when this happened. The only reason the whites put up a fight was thanks to the other world powers.

Whites weren't monarchist.

>1875 – 4 August 1997

can someone have seen too much history? she turned forty during WWI, and still saw the collapse of the USSR

I wonder if there was anyone who saw Napoleon and Russian revolution.

There were a ton of ppl who fought Crimean war around during ww1 and who were like wut? Britain? Friends???, and it was kinda a big deal. That one you know by Florence Nightingale becoming a thing (and Bakunina / Pirogov doing the same by the russian side).

Hannah Gorby (Stilley) (1746 - 1840), one of the earliest born persons to have ever been photographed.

Conrad Heyer (1749–1856) was an American farmer and veteran of the Revolutionary War

>Revolution defined the rest of the century

How?

history the march toward communism

She met Van Gogh as well you know.

Probably yes. Hitler would have been, had he won, but there's no denying how completely the 20th century was shaped by the USSR.

Read a book. I'll give you a clue: Cold War.

Why was the Cold War important?

Is this the most brainlet post ever made on Veeky Forums?

you are both right and both wrong

Would you guys smash?
She probably has a lot of skill and experience.

Broadly speaking they were a coalition of counter-revolutionary factions rather than a coherent ideology. Monarchists were certainly included among them, and the Western powers did support them, seeing them as a better alternative than the Reds or Greens.

My 100 year old neighbor fled the empire when the commies showed up. I asked what happened to all the servants, and she looked at me funny and admitted that "you weren't really supposed to think about servants--that was their whole point." Sometimes I remind her there is no Soviet Union and that helps her get through the latest medical problem.

I recall
didn't she think he was a creep?

and as in the spanish civil war this prove fatal

I wish I could know more about the factions of the losing side from both wars

Hardly the fault of the West in either case, they might have done more but they backed the right side in both wars.

Rude

Some of them were. Denikin absolutely was a monarchist.

MANSPLAINING

DIE IN A FUCKING FIRE YOU TESTES-BEARING PIECE OF SHIT

holy fukk

It was an astonishing question and you deserve to be insulted for it.

If she has a stroke tell her now she knows how much pain Lenin was in

I wasn't alive during the cold war, please explain why it was so important

two dudes walked into a bar and one wanted a free beer and the other paid for his, two threaten to shoot nuclear warheads at each other butt then realize that they would blow up the whole bar and decide not. Current year, evreyone has nukes and people are still trying to get free beer through different means

At least she left before Europe got cucked and the Muslims took over 20 years later in the 2010s. She was blessed to have lived long but she at least didn't get to see the cucking of Europe.

France had Muslims back then too

Hahaha no. France was not full of cucks back then compared to today. Nice try shill.

>France was not full of cucks back then compared to today. Nice try shill.

French did have Muslim colonies.

Whose elites came over to study in France. Because France was this meme liberal empire during the 19th Century.

She probably saw Petain and Klaus Barbie pwn a bunch of Jews in her day.

>as the Tzar was all about fucking up the Japanese

and he was doing a very fine job too

the world isnt a radioactive crater because it played out a certain way

The problem is that the soviets were so alienating that even moderate SR's and politically pragmatic trade unionists end up white according to either the tide of war or simple slander becoming official record.

Like shit, there's a paramilitary in the Ukraine doing a movie on Nestor Makhno, putting particular emphasis on his pleas for Ukrainians to have faith in god and faith in the state.

So did the U.S., U.K., Russia, Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, Austria, and China

Makhno was a Green, the SRs and other menshevik factions generally threw their lot in with the Greens rather than the Whites, tho of course some were desperate enough to stop the bolsheviks that they sided with their class enemies.

But yes the Whites were a very diverse faction, not merely "monarchists" or even "counter-socialists", but also democrats, republicans, and socialists uncommitted to vanguardism.

>there were a handful of very high status Muslims being educated in French academies, therefore France has always been a progressive multiracial society free from hate

Whites had them if they all converged on Moscow after fall of Tsaritsyn. Bolsheviks we're shitting themselves over the prospect in summer 1919

Whites weren't a single faction so they were unable to converge or coordinate. They were really several rival factions forced to work together, but there was no love lost between the various White armies. It's a lot like the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan, they were rival warlords who united to fight of the Taleban, but even at the height of the Taleban's power, Northern Alliance warlords were still actively fighting amongst themselves. It was only because an outside power (America) took over the role of organizing a resistance that they were able to triumph, and the West didn't want to get dragged into the Russian Civil War so soon after WW1, so although a strong intervention could have ended the revolution, it never came and the Reds were able to leverage unity of purpose and centrality of territory to grind the other two sides into oblivion.

Since said French-educated elites are the exact reasons for why the lower class from those countries is coming in, shouldn't you declare France cucked ince back then?

If you have to ask that, get out of his.

...

>HURR its causally linked so its the same thing!

So you're the big bang, are you?
