Why does this anime never have any BG music or anything fucking happening? I caught an episode on toonami a long time ago and decided to watch it since it was popular.

they had almost no budget. Aside from the action scenes they basically tried to get away with animating as little as possible. Luckily it ended up working really well for the show.
Like, there'll be a scene where two characters on the opposite sides of a room are talking. The camera starts on one and SLOWLY pans to the next. While the camera is panning over an empty room, A: they didn't need to animate anything, and B: it's a visual metaphor for the distance between people, a major theme of the show

The body is his own, he worked for it. It is the only reason he is so good at channeling the quirk, his vessal is supreme. That is why Deku had to bulk up at the start, because he was skinny and couldn't channel all that power without his own baseline.
They explicitely tell you that in the manga, without an amazing Veeky Forums body, you explode trying to use the quirk.
