French Empire

*Attempts to repeats Roman History straight from a textbook*

Was Napoleon the original live action role player?

Literally Hitler.

Hello Lindy.

>the original larper

You've got plenty of examples before that. Everyone wanted to larp as the romans.

But the romans were larping as trojans

I never understood the wank of the French Empire or the French Revolution. The empire lasted 10 fucking years and the revolution traded a king in for an emperor.

Yeah but guys, there's a difference between larping and actually dping what Napoleon did.

He literally tried to create a New Rome.
>denounce communism
>declare a republic
>organise a consult of three
>overthrow the consult of three
>declare himself first citizen
>declare himself emperor after consolidating the conquered lands
>die before he could successfully take over all of Europe
>Nephew becomes new emperor

He basically did what it took Rome to do in 50 years in about 3years

>Communism in the early 18th century
What?
>Declare a republic
You what mate?
>Die before he could successful take over all of Europe
You fucking what mate?

It lasted 10 years while at war with most of Europe, that's pretty amazing. Plus even after it was defeated it had a lasting, mostly positive, influence on all Europe. Also consider that it came from a country in complete crisis and that it was created by someone with a fairly unimportant family from a equally unimportant land.

litteraly what the fuck are you talking about user

I think the bees was the most autistic larpation, can't get much more ridiculous than that.

As your picture shows, Napoleon really wanted to larp as Louis XIV. Also as Charlemagne.

Incredible rise of a nation in chaos to the biggest continental power. France became a powerhouse during this period, and Napoleon’s character is highly interesting to learn about

No, Napooleon was a Charlomagne LAPRer, not a Roman LARPer.
There have been many cases of Romaphilia in Europe; but most ended up derivating in the bastardized >H >R >E version, be it "Frankia" or "Germania".
The only case of a true Western Roman Empire rebirth was with Mussolini; understood as a unification of the Mare Nostrum nations of Romantic cultural primordial underlining and Italo-Roman imperative of colonialism.

Nappy was literally a new Caesar and France a new Rome, even fashion was incredibly close to the Roman one.
It's a Rome that's been defeated by Carthage.

Napoleon was a legit Roman fanboy though; he posed for paintings with his hand tucked into his "toga" like the Roman Emperors did, he renamed his armies "legions" and gave then golden eagle standards, and he also built Roman-esque victory arches to march through on pseudo-Roman triumphs.

All of that framed whintin a deeply Frankish image of what Roma is. Besides, being a Romaboo isn't neccessarily the same as a promoter of a rebuilding of Roma.
Spain -Castilla, to be upmost precise- was and still is deeply Romantic in both "boo" and cultural terms, but Castilla cannot be argued as a rebuilding of the Roman Empire -nor did it ever intend such.
I would argue that Romaphilia is mostly a lens usted by Germanic populations -at heart, aka, France, in this case- as a tool for creating civilations rather than a pan-european sentiment. Maybe I should have stated that previously.

>French "Empire"
>lasted 7 years

Literally the Brits and Austrians were trying to destroy France since the late 1780s and it was constantly at war or in a perpetual state of war while dealing with the after effects of the revolution and despite all this emerged as a superpower in Europe that was only put down after nearly 30 years of Republic and Imperial France resurgence politically, economically, and militarily thanks to Napoleon.

Even Alexander?
