What's wrong with weighted planks? I really suck at properly bracing in lifts like the deadlift. I will have to really get into that and learn it first before I expose my beat up lower back to something like paused deadlifts, really.
My lower back isn't rounding visibly, but it's taking some stress and that must be from improper bracing.
