you don't want shoes with a compressible sole. If you're cheap just buy some chucks or even knockoff chucks. If you want to buy something better look into some dedicated weightlifting shoes like PL2s or Adipwers.

Am I being memed or do you guys actually do this?
Chase Fisher

Asher Harris
not necessarily a meme but it's stupid to think it's better than using adi power shoes
Easton Watson
You still mad you got kicked out of the Olympics huh. Lol
Nathaniel Young

But I have a home gym
Kevin Barnes
Thanks. PL2 seems to be in my price range although I can't find one in my size on amazon (size 7 footlet here). What are chucks? Would you mind posting links?

Chuck Taylors. Those hipster shoes. Dunlop volleys are the same thing but less faggy and cheaper
Luke Miller
Just do yourself a favour and get a pair of these

Barefoot or flat shoes such as converse or vans etc
All of the shoes described below are great, including the cheapest options. Heel height is personal preference. Though most people benefit from heels for squats, specially novices. It just fixes many issues with form. I'd advise against using flat shoes or going barefeet, except for the deadlift.
Another option for flat heeled shoes are Wrestling shoes. Chucks work ok as well.
Look in other websites, like roguefitness and whatnot. I don't know many but google should be helpful. Or just use the discount coupon adidas gives when you sign up to their newsletter. I think it brings the shoes to 75U$ or something.
Adrian Walker
that shit is exactly what I've been looking for. going to buy a pair soonish
Easton Richardson
A reverse image search leads to a adidas page. Would you mind posting the exact link/name of shoes?
I'm making good progress on SL (2 months in) so I don't think I'll be quitting anytime soon. Thanks for the shoes list!
Angel Long
You look like a fucking faggot lifting in that
Luis Harris
Even steel toed boots are better than running shoes for lifting.

i found .75 heel squat shoes to be essential for maintaining proper form on high bar back squat. i think this advice is painfully understated, especially for tall people. it's as useful as not rounding your lower back on a deadlift. very few people can obtain the dorseflexion required for proper high bar squat and most olympic lifter wear shoes with elevated heels, some modified higher than the original.
