Vegan General 1st editon

Hello fit, surely there must be some vegans on fit.

It seems like a good idea to share our experiences with lifting whilst maintaining a vegan diet.

Feel free to ask questions and share your thoughts.

How do you guys reach your daily protein?

I am 72 kg (160lbs) so I need 160grams a day, which is quite a lot.

What are some high protein sources of protein?

Is seitan any good, I never ate it is it tasty?

second post for reminding you to kill yourselves you bunch of plant munching faggets

Don't forget your B12 guys.

maybe make it more general and let vegetarians post aswell. I know a lot about plant protein even though I would never give up the eggs from my neighboors farm on my cut.

Pic related
That's not nice

Vegatarians are free to post as well of coarse, I thought vegan ment vegatarian too.

English is not my first language sorry.

Comfy

>I am 72 kg (160lbs) so I need 160grams a day, which is quite a lot.

1g/lb body weight isn't the right formula for protein calculation. The 1g/lb formula is really meant to be 1g/lb of lean body mass, not total weight. Another formula is 1.5-1.8g/kg

72 x 1.5 = 108, 72 x 1.8 = 130g. To get in that range, load up on lentils, beans, oats, and green veggies.

These are stats for raw dry beans and peas, why are you so retarded?

Vegan means that you just eat plants and no diary products (milk, eggs, etc.) aswell.

Still I think it's a good idea to start such a thread.

Well it still is kinda hard because a lot of these things listed contain so many fucking carbs that you can't just eat 800g of it a day to fill your protein need and still stay under your cut limit. At least that's my experience.

I'd really recommend adding some tofu/seitan/tempeh to maybe one meal a day so you can hit it easier.

Also to cover your omega 3 acids go buy flaxseed oil. I drink a teaspoon every morning and dunno if it's just placebo, but feel a lot better since I do this.

you understand soy protein and beef protein are not created equal and have different effects on muscle building?

>Studies have suggested that the phytoestrogens4 contained in soy protein lead to both unwanted decreases in testosterone, and increases in the female sex hormone estrogen.

also beef contains more creatine I'm sure. there's just no argument about what your diet should consist of if you're looking to gain muscle.

if vegan works for you though, right on.

>Studies have suggested that the phytoestrogens4 contained in soy protein lead to both unwanted decreases in testosterone, and increases in the female sex hormone estrogen.

Not this guy but there are around 5 studies that say this happens relating to a consumption of soy that is really hard to reach and around 100 studies that show that it doesn't.

Not sure how necessary creatine is, but it is true that the diet is lacking in that aspect.

That chart is confirmed wrong

What kind of beef has 14g of protein?

>>Studies have suggested that the phytoestrogens4 contained in soy protein lead to both unwanted decreases in testosterone, and increases in the female sex hormone estrogen.

from: bodybuilding.com/fun/drobson71.htm

>reference 4 is literally called "Tofu and soy drinks contain phytoestrogens" and is just measuring the phytoestrogen content of soy milk and tofu, nothing at all to do with experiments showing decreases in testosterone or increases in estrogen
>no other study referenced in this section
>further down, the article goes on to say "The latest studies into soy protein suggest it does not decrease testosterone and raise estrogen, as previously thought."

This vegan thread general is just gonna turn into "studies suggest" wars.

Post some vegan current body pics and fuckin recipes, plant-based bros

Also is a single 28mg iron/133% b12 tablet a day sufficient?

this is a health and fitness board, not a place for retarded cultists to try to proselitize naive young dyels

might as well write down and invented plant with 70g of proteins since that chart is already insane

Iron pills shouldn't be needed and might actually be harmful

nutritionfacts.org/video/risk-associated-with-iron-supplements/

>this is a health board

literally no, they took that out of the board title

>not a place for retarded cultists to try to proselitize naive young dyels

new to Veeky Forums?

i feel shitty when I don't take it for a couple days, is that because of the b12?

Any cheap foods i can eat on a daily to keep from getting anemic?

Also something I can eat a lot of without worrying it about it being too much? I suck at counting macros

Thanks for clearing that up, 130 frams should be doable.

How many ug of B12 is that, you shouldnt supplement with to big doses because the higher the dose the less of it is absorbed by the body.

Just do not click on this thread if it bothers you, its that easy friendo.

I came across this vid of this body builder saying he does not pay attention to the amount of protien hes getting at all yet he is bigger then ever.

youtu.be/amJ_oatZ0zY

What do you guys think about this?

Also this guy says most humans eat way to much protein.

youtu.be/1imMDS4Aolc

He says he has been gaining the most muslce as possible whilst eating a minimal amount of protein.

>fitness board
>having a general on how to be unfit
May as well start a HAES general while you're at it, green goblin.

Frank Medrano is a great inspiration for me.

Mind sharing your physique?

Frank here is vegan and he looks better than 97% of Veeky Forums

Bump

Vegetarian here.
i have my own chicken and goats.
pretty fun desu.
But even on GOMAD my weight didnt go up.
i do a lot of cardio btw and i need to for boxing.

He's barely past dyel. The only impressive thing about him is his

He does not want to get huge, the excercises he does are the thing that is impressive.

None of those plants are even complete proteins with the exception of Soy.

I mean, yeah. He weight and height definitely help with them as well.

Reminder if you're a 6' vegetarian you'll never be Frank.

Can vegetarians hang out here?

I'm afraid you are the common enemy amongst omniskum and veganlads

LOL at vegans getting BTFO

Pretty much anything besides nuts/seeds, dried fruits, and possibly bread.

Beans, vegetables, and whole grains are pretty filling. You shouldn't need to watch those too closely, it's hard to overeat accidentally.

Not really
Veganism is a spectrum like autism. Just giving you a real life visual example for you to relate with since you're autistic as shit.

BTW Op Im going to keep this thread going

I roll phat /hems/, yo.

>100 grams of soy has 122 calories and 11 grams of protein
>100 grams of beef flank steak has 192 calories and 28 grams of protein

Lol
